Hi
Just fitted some 30mm short sway away rear bars and some Bilstein rear shocks to my bug, they ride quiet well and seem to have taken the squat out of my rear end Took my bug to the VW Nationals Supersprint, I need some work with my driving http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=it97i...hUEF5dYCB6ibEA I gave the car a wash and changed wheels and won second place in the VW Nationals show n shine for modified Beetles 1968-1976, race on Saturday, show on Sunday Steve |

It does look a bit tail happy though how does the handling feel in general ? |
Hi
It handles pretty well, I was chucking it around at first trying to get heat into the tyres, people watching said its not squatting like it used to, the spin was from trying to get more speed onto the straight. I don't have the ability to say what the suspension needs next, so next track day I would like to get someone else to have a drive and get some advice. I have pretty old Konis in the front. I'm thinking of going for some coil overs with an adjustable base for height, at present the only way I can set ride height is by putting more tension on the coil spring which is not ideal Steve |
Looks like it was a great day. Awesome vid. Thanks for sharing.

Yep that corner onto the straight has claimed a few before...! Good stuff Steve

Hi
Went to WSID (local Sydney 1/4 mile) last night to get in some practice before the VW drags at Warwick and before I fit a bigger turbo, GTX3076. I won best reaction time .001 as well and $300. Best time was 12.432 @110.90 mph Steve |
Well done! That turbo is a good one, 400hp should just be a little over 1 bar boost then ;-)
|
Thanks Wally, I'm looking forward to more power, I've heard of great results on other Japanese motors with the GTX, I'm also going 1000cc injectors so I can have some head room for E85 down the track
|
Hi
Some parts arrived to help with my quest for more kilowatts, thanks to AFI South, some 1000cc injectors with plenty of head room for E85, they also supplied some adaptors for Denso to GM plugs so I don't have to cut any wires. And some more parts turned up today from Frozen Boost. Ice water reservoir and water to air intercooler pump, this pump is designed by Bosch and Ford specifically for water/air APPLICATIONS and is used in supercharged Mustang Cobras and supercharged Mercedes. Turbo arrives today. Steve http://i1184.photobucket.com/albums/...3.jpg~original http://i1184.photobucket.com/albums/...2.jpg~original http://i1184.photobucket.com/albums/...7.jpg~original |

Hi
It's a HUD, I really like it. I bought from these people http://mypolaris.com.au/hud/ but might be able to source one locally Steve |
Hi
Turbo is on, just need to fit the injectors and some phenolic spacers to the inlet manifold and fit the ice box. There is a massive size difference between the turbos. I thought my motor used a VF30, its actually a VF35 Steve http://i1184.photobucket.com/albums/...1.jpg~original http://i1184.photobucket.com/albums/...1.jpg~original |
Familiar pictures... I had a VF34 and the difference with a Blouch DOM3 (= Garrett GT3076R with a small-ish hotside) looked like that too.

Hi
Its nearly back on the road, check of the tune next week. I think I had a boost leak, I wonder how it would have gone at the 1/4 mile without a split in the hose just after the turbo. http://i1184.photobucket.com/albums/...7.jpg~original It was a bit of challenge to fit a 3 inch inlet under the Subaru inlet manifold. Needed a bit of hammer work. http://i1184.photobucket.com/albums/...3.jpg~original http://i1184.photobucket.com/albums/...1.jpg~original http://i1184.photobucket.com/albums/...e.jpg~original Steve |
