I think Cormac and I have opened up a pandora's box of sorts :)

cormac163 October 10th 2003 13:02

www.tarox.com is the web site

dont hold your breath waiting for someone to get back to you it could be three or four days.....

NYBugman1972 October 10th 2003 13:24

As long as it's not 3 or 4 months. I'm just gathering information.

zen October 10th 2003 13:52

duh. sorry was only looking at the bootom of the thread. that is decent pricing. so what are the opinions on performance?

NYBugman1972 October 10th 2003 15:04

Well, I certainly can't comment, but out friend cormac seems to have ordered an 11" vented rotor a-la CSP, but with a billet 6-piston, red anodized caliper. I'd imagine it to be pretty good.

Hey Comac, would you like me to post the pics you emailed me?

Eurolook71 October 11th 2003 06:00

Ok, I'm getting excited...

Questions...

Corman163...I assume you have splindles with provisions to add calipers, does anyone think the kit includes brackets for us over here in the US, or would the brackets sold by CSP be ok to use???

What 700, (not sure how to make that symbol) in US dollars???

Thanks!!!

Very intrested!!!!!

NYBugman1972 October 11th 2003 07:12

700 GBP = 1200 USD give or take.

cormac163 October 11th 2003 13:11

please if anyone else is interested, please add the pictures to the site.
i dont work for them if anyone thinks i do.
i am actually from ireland and the cost was in euro 700 so thats about 500GBP.
As for the CSP spindles i honestly dont know but if they are the same size as the originals fitted onto UK spec supers i dont see how there could be a problem. If anyone wants me to send some pics i'll get a measuring tape and put it beside the callipers and email them.

Eurolook71 October 12th 2003 01:19

I got it...

700 euros

=

$825ish

NYBugman1972 October 12th 2003 08:46

That's a real nice price. Yeah, I got GPB and Euro's confused there for a second. No matter, it's all clear now.

Here they are.

cormac163 October 12th 2003 09:44

thanks for putting up the pics mike .
i would not know how to.
i would also like to know myself what anyone else thinks of tar-ox brake kits as i will not have my car back until next jan - feb??

Eurolook71 October 13th 2003 12:06

Wow, those are sweet!!

I don't know though, I'm trying to find info on a Volvo conversion, like the grey ghost in August of hot VWs. Rotors and calipers are pretty cheap, yet still vented, but it may need the hub. Plus I have yet figured out how I might bolt up the calipers. Anyway, I will probably just go with toplines kit, great kit for the $$$.

SilverBullet October 13th 2003 20:04

SSP (StreetStyleandPower) sells them also. www.streetstyleandpower.com , go to shop online, stop and go, brake conv. kit. Their rotors are drilled and slotted.:)

MattKab October 15th 2003 18:43

This kit for the money looks like a massive demand very soon! With good, delivery times and conveniance of that magnitude I'd think twice before buying secondhand Porsche brakes again. Too late, 'paid a bit more than that all in.

Those Calipers look sweet as! What diameter/s are the pots?

The rotors look quite heavy, compared to 951. I sense a hit with this product still, the proof is in the pudding. Optimum? or up-rated stock repalcement?

This will make a very cool Beetle.

Matt

Ahh i have just taken delivery today of a fine set of rear discs conversions from Kersher courtesy of michael leche in machine7. i have to admit that they are the dogs danglies. i will take some photos of them and upload them. They are pretty similar to the front callipers already on the 1303S but with the extra handbrake rigging. the discs are nice drilled and grooved which will look pretty sweet on the car with the tarox kit up front. Someday when the rest of the car is up and running and out of the garage.
I will be working on a website soon enough just to show the stages the car has gone through and i will put a section dedicated with just the brakes as i dont see too many How To Features on upgrading these kits to Stock IRS cars witht drums.

Happy Stopping :D
