Prices in Euro (I believe you need to take 16% off for taxes):
21152 = 303.90
21152E = 456.39

They do specify this with the pricing though:
"Volkswagen Pricelist for our German Catalouge. Not for Export!!!"

Ouch, with the exchange rate and the shipping that could become very expensive. Is there a distributor for their exhaust here in the United States...

zen August 28th 2004 22:33

nope. mine was johnH. there just aren't many options out there. check out LAPerformance. FAT has a setup that is quiet pack looking and supposedly restrictive on larger engines, but probably OK for what you are talking about. and then there is Tangerine$$$$$$$, but damn nice. seems to me there is a market gap there for the US. anyone want to go into business? :D

how about Turbo Thomas?

He makes a nice merged T4 header for around $300 (Type 1 style)
Turbo Thomas

They look good but with the exchange rate the 225 (GBP) is equal to $403 dollars.

Why do I have to be so cheap. :rolleyes:

well the BAS your gonna get for $400 is only going to be a header, you will still need j tubes or heater boxes.

that is a fully merged header and its not stainless, not mild steel like the bas.

zen August 29th 2004 17:54

the BAS he was looking at is like mine. fully merged. they have mild and stainless. not sure which those prices were for of the top of my head though. i think stainless is $500.

exhausts are the biggest heartburn i have with the TIV conversion. just not enough options and the prices are very high. really eats into the conversion budget pretty hard.

Maybe I will find something at Taccoa. Even if someone is selling a mangled and rusted B.A.S. I can fix it up for less.

I just sent them (Ahnendorp BAS) an inquiry yesterday about a 21152E, and a 21158 which the latter is supposed to be NLA from what I've heard.

I'll let you know what they cost when they respond. Their pricelist says the 21152E (stainless steel 1 5/8" header) is EUR 459.39, and the 21158 (stainless steel "Kafer Cup" system w/1 3/4" primaries) is EUR 1188.57. Airmail shipping is EUR 138.00

One euro is worth about $1.20 right now, so just a 21152E stainless header + shipping would be $716.87

Cool. I'm a cheap son of a gun so I would opt for the 3 week shipping for EUR 60.00 If someone were to start making exhaust systems with the same quality as the B.A.S. or other European companies here in the U.S. they would make a fortune... :agree:

yetibone August 29th 2004 19:02

So true BG. :agree:

The only stateside alternative is a $1500 Tangerine header, plus another $700 for the mufflers, which is far and beyond the quality and performance of a BAS system.

That's ALOT OF $$$$ for some pipes.

especially when its not even stainless!!! :eek:

yetibone August 29th 2004 19:11

IIRC, you can get it wid an aluminized coating. That usually keeps the rust away for about a week or so. :rolleyes:

NO_H2O August 29th 2004 19:19

Tangerine exhaust is high $$. But nothing sounds or works as sweet.
