Where did you get those stupid numbers? Cite the scientific testing that was done to determine those cutoffs. They look like SWAGs to me.
I can build a Type 1 gearbox that will easily take 200ftlbs for less than $500.

Whether a trans can withstand a certain peak torque has very little to do with the design, and much more to do with the idiot behind the wheel.

Well since it's a mid engine design, you'd have to flip the rp or flip the tranny upside down, so mounts would be an issue for those of you looking for a bolt on install  . The 3.2 in there puts out 270 hp and i've seen aftermarket turbo kits putting out well over 400 hp in a 3200 lb car...so in short, yes the boxter tranny would work, the S models have a 6 speed but you have to worry about custom axles and so on...

The reason why i'm doing an entire 993 rear end is cause i'm using it the way porsche designed it. I got some suggestions of possibly narrowing the whole suspension setup, but even if you're really really good, you'll screw up the geometry and it won't work like it's suposed to. I can use stock axles, stock hubs, stock sway bars, stock 6 speed g50, and bilsteins PSS9 setup, all without killing the geometry...
