great car, congratulations! That nakamichi is one of the best units ever :) also lke the shifter, I have the same but haven't tried yet (there is no engine in the car at the moment)

Thanks. I picked up the Nakamichi a few years back. I hear that the company has changed ownership. We had a Nakamichi tape deck for years and it was great.
I too love the BugTech shifters and very happy to be selling them here.

I have been working on tax stuff the last 2 days. But in between, I got my oil lines that will go to the front mounted oil cooler bent and flared. They are heavy walled -8 stainless so I had to take them to Aeroquip Express to have them flared.

I swapped out my carbs for another set of 45 Dells that fixed my remaining carb issues. I put another 30 minutes of run time on the engine and pull the lifters one more time to inspect them for proper break-in ware. 2 hours of run time on the test stand and 3 lifter inspections later and i am ready to fit some sealing tin to it and get it ready to stab in the car.

Sounds good so far, get some video of the motor once you get it in :)

where might one find those shifters?

owdlvr March 22nd 2010 18:59

BugTech is the brand of shifter, they're out of Germany but there is a US distributor.

Now there's something you should stab into my car. :D

Good to hear you've made some more progress on getting that thing back on the road. I have no room to talk, but you are a few years overdue.

Nice hard piping Dave!

I was starting to think I would never see this but here it is. I had to have some special bolts made for the Herbie X so I used the 2 to 4 week lead time to Take care of some things and even got another trip to our favorite spot in Mexico in last week.
I still have to make breather hoses, fuel hoses, put the exhaust back on, install the sealing tin and wiring. But it is in the car.

Looking beautiful! Curious about the filters, are those going to be the final version?

I still need to oil them, but yes. That is it.
