WHWHWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.. HOLY HOLY SMOOKS!!
Am I dreaming? Damn.. that;s just some verry verry nice fabrication!!! Keep us updated!!! Wiebrand :D |
Oh my!..
That's bad-@$$! |
Damn! I'd been wanting to build that same chassis!
Check out http://www.rorty-design.com/content/beetle.htm for information on that setup he's using. Nice |

Hugo,
OMG, you've gone and done it! Now you officially have the hottest VW Bug EVER. I'm not joking here. When this is finished ABSOLUTELY NOTHING will be as amazing. Thanks so much for doing this, you've established the highest of bars to reach! If I'm not mistaken that IS Bob Frost-Stevenson's design (rorty-design). He's designed my front end as well. Sincerely, Jason Ford |
Thanks.
yes, the chassis is from rorty-design (with some modification) |
Yeah, SOME modification! Those are Audi front control arms? How are you setting up the geometry? I like the idea of cast aluminum arms, less momentum during travel.
Jason |
No.
The entire front suspesion is from Corvette C4. |
holy hell...that thing is gonna be fast as hell......
|
Are you doing the fabrication yourself or having a shop do it?
How much time do you have into it at the point of your pics? Are the bars that tie the rear-most subframe to the main hoop removeable to allow removing the engine? Any idea what the balance of the chassis will be with that sexy lump out back? Thanks in advance. DORIGTT |
that is going to be pretty sick. great powerplant. please do keep us updated. would love to see a GL.com feature article on it.

The proyect start 06/april/05. Proyecto Yes the bars are removeable. We calculate 45 front/55 rear . |
Wow !
Incredible is all I have to say ... that mother is going to be FAST ! :righton:

Hey Hugo, do you have more pics of your car before? It looked pretty awesome then. The one in your Mexican VW Forums avitar looks really good. I'd just like to get a couple from you. Keep the pics coming on the build too!
Jason |
It was going to be fast...that is until he decided to put a 40 horse motor in it
|
thats freakin' sick!!!
I wonder if you could use that chassis for a Ghia? |
I spoke/e-mailed the guy at Rorty-design and the only thing that needs modification is the sections that attach to the heater channels. As you may know, the Ghia's pan is wider. That's the only difference.
C'mon! Let's do it. |

Hugo, you can put a 12" up front in the passenger foot well. A small box is built just big enough for the woofer to sit in that seals against the top of the footwell. Then, a hole is cut above and is sealed to the box air volume box residing in the hood area. Helps with weight balance as well. A fiberglass box would work better because it would weigh less and keep the center of gravity lower, but I wanted to make sure it worked well first.
Thanks for the pics, it is and will be a beautiful AND mean car! I forgot to ask you, how much wider are your fenders than stock? And are those Porsche pattern BBS wheels? What are the offsets and what car where they intended for? Jason |
Man, that is one awesome bug you've got! Love those BBS CH rims. :)

Looks grate thanks for the pics. the fenders are 2.5" wider (front) and 3" wider (rear) from Creative Car Craft like yours. actually they say me that the fender are the first they sell for mexico. the bolt pattern are 5 x 120 (BMW) originally are for BMW M3 (E46) front 19 x 8.5 +35mm offset, rear 19 x 10 +20mm offset. |
Hi Hugo, Great job!
That's a really nice looking conversion you've started there and a good choice of engine and powertrain too! I particularly like the substitution of the Corvette front suspension components (if a little heavy though IMHO) which really look the mutt's nuts. I will be following your build closely, along with everyone else here! Good luck with it all and please keep us posted! |

There is no news, because I have a lot of work, and I'm still waiting for some items for the rear suspension from North carolina (ebay). |
Hugo, I am interested in your headlights. Did you make them or buy them??
thanks, mike |

What parts from what cars did you use or did you just find what you wanted and put it together. Do you have some pics of the project? I like them and I am looking to make some.
