1 Attachment(s)
Just a little eye candy.......
I will have the articel done soon....I hope. Alex |
you stumped up for the kit then? :)
happy with it? oh and did you get the updated kit with the stainless end bushings on the tiebars?? if not, get in touch with simon and he'll post you the new bushings.. the bronze ones have caused a few issues and are being offered as an upgrade for free. |
Yummy teaser :)
|
I should have the stainless ones......which color are the bronze ones? I talked to Simon just after I heard about the problem and he told me that I am fine.
Look at the pic in the suspension gallery.....you can see them there. Alex |
Does this mean you have given up with having double wishbones up front?
Here's mine so far: http://www.ricola.co.uk/wishbone_pics/wish_new_old.JPG http://www.ricola.co.uk/wishbone_pics/wish_asm.jpg Rich |
I have given up on it. Not that I would not want it but my car is getting to close to get painted and my pan is already done.
It would get more expensive too so I decided to get the coilover kit. Alex |
Alex,
So are you using the torsion bars at the front with the coil-overs? Or letting them swing free :) |
yeah you got the updated stainless ends alex..
will hopefully get mine at some point this year if i manage to sell my other bug.. |
Kiwivw,
no...the torsion leaves are out and a replacement bar is inserted that has swivels at the end of them so that the trailing arms and swing freely up and down. Alex |
Alex, how's the article going? I'm in the process of designing a similar setup and trying to decide what shocks and spring rates to use. I'll probably go with the same coil-over shocks from Simon. But I'm not sure what length and spring rate I need. I'm running 2 1/2 inch dropped spindles and want to drop it another 2 inches, maybe a little bit more. Do you or anyone else out there have any suggestions?
|
hey guys, can you post a link to the website that does that coilocer kit? is it a bolt on kit or do i have to just find what i want and fab it together? also you were talking about that replacement torsion bar that you put in instead of the leafs, where would i get that if i decided to go coilover? thanks guys. Sam

I'd like to know who makes the shock and spring. Looks good.
|
factman, the whole shebang can be bought from red9designs..

The article will be posted next week. I will finish it this weekend.

Alex,
If you get a chance, could you post the model numbers of the GAZ shocks, must be on them somewhere. I'd like to know what weight they support. Thanks |
Red9 Coilovers on the way
Alex,
I just ordered a set of front and rear coil-over suspension setups from Simon. Did you install the rear shocks too? Are you on 944T rear trailing arms? Did you narrow your front beam? Any issues if yes to the above? I also decided that it would be better to have the Manx on the road this summer, rather than mess around with installing the 928 front suspension. This will complete the purchase of major components and now on to assembly. I purchased/received one of Eagle's rear uni-ball trailing arms mounts ($200.) and hope to trial install these this weekend, remove and powder coat next week. Looking forward to a rolling chassis... Randy |
Hi Randy,
My beam is not narrowed. I do have rear coilovers but got the ones from Remmele. I am using the early 944T trailing arms. Pics are in the gallery and in the Cup brace article on the main site. The front install is very easy. I have the article done by this weekend. Take pics of your setup....specially the Eagle spring plates for the suspension gallery. Alex |
Hi Alex,
What did you pay for the rear coil over's from Remmele minus the transportation costs? Did you also remove the torsion tubes? Thanks, Walter |
Torsion tubes are removed and I paid approx 1200DM from Tafel at that time. I did not have to pay the tax due to export.
|
Randy,
I am converting to coil-over on the front and giving serious consideration to doing the same on the rear. Could you tell me what shock lenghts you are using and the spring rates. I have dropped spindles in the front; so, I think I'll use stock length shocks. Talking to Simon, he thought 125# springs would work for the front. My car is a Speedster. I'm planning to lower the rear the sme amount as the front. What do you think Eric. |
Sorry, I meant Alex not Eric.
|
Alex...Any chance of an update on this frontend setup? Is it any good?
Thanks |
3 years later and nobody has it running?
Anybody?? :bawling: |
Alex,
I appreciate the article here on GL tech, but I really would like to know how you like it? Did you find any flex in the shock support towers? Did you totally weld the seams? How is the ride? Have you had a chance to do much spirited driving???:D Thanks for any input you can offer ;) , Kelly (Cohibra) |
