What colour???

I would like to know which colours do you prefer for your GL.

Please help me guys. Im desperate. :bawling: :bawling:
Tell me your opinion
1. repaint the same colour (stock)
2. paint it orange (without pearls)
3. reproduce the Porsche-Gulf colour scheme (sky blue with orange bits)
4. paint it orange and add blue fame stripes (seen on porche and its stunning)

any more ideas are welcome, although dark colours arent prefferred due to high ambient temps

Thanx a lot

Chris

personal opinions here of course...

i don't think the Gulf scheme would work on a SB.
i don't like the stock VW Orange.
other oranges just depend on what orange it is for me.

Porsche did have a very cool orange called oddly enough, Bahama Yellow. it was almost like a slightly burnt orange with yellow in it. that may be worth looking into.

i'm blanking on any other oranges i like.

VW's Jazz Blue is one of my current favorite colors. silver is cool too (mine is silver). to combine blue and silver, i like Porsche's Diamond Blue. VW's Dove Blue is also cool and a stock Bug color.

all time favorite color is Porsche's speed (or blood) yellow.

oh, Audi does have a new yellowy/orange out now on the TT VR6. look at that too.

If you are worried about the heat buildup from a dark paint why not just go with a bright white paint. Mine was white and it had tinted windows and it was never that hot inside even when it was 95 degrees outside. I was thinking of using porsche gaurds red for my car but know I have been thinking of the same heat absorbtion problem that dark colors have. But the colors I like are red, white, blue, green, silver, and black.

I think every one has asked this question at least once?
I know i have. When really it comes down to what YOU think looks hot and what you like the most, as your the one owning it and driving it.

My advice is to think of a color that best descibes the "attitude" you want to give off. For instance, on my super beetle i want a sexy yet aggresive look. and for me this would be black (or a dark blue).

But like ZEN said about the new Audi tt color... you should totaly look into it, you might verywell like it. Its a hot color i think.
My father works at the local Audi, Porsche, VW, BMW dealership so i get to scope out all the new cars and such on a daily basis and that color really cought my eye when i saw it, and i totaly loved it.

Later,
Jonathan

Thanx for the replies guys. super vw i agree with you. i was just wondering. you know trying to get some feedback from what the community thinks. i logged on the audi site in the uk and the only yellow i found was for the new a3???

NEVER judge colors by your monitor. they are ALWAYS wrong. go to the dealer or a paint shop for chips and take them outside. do NOT look at them under flourescent light.

that said, here is a pic of the TT. it is much more yellow here than in real life.

WOW, now thats a bright color. I like it. :D

If you really want orange you could look into Scion's xB Release Series Orange: http://www.scion.com/xb_release_series/gallery.html

That is a link to the website. I guess its supposed to be the brightest orange put on a car. I have a friend in TX that had a bug (Which unfortunatly met a wall pretty hard), anyway, he got one of thsoe, in the Release series, and the color is extremly orange

Here's an idea. That scion orange, which is awesome, carbon fiber bits (if used) in a dark, dark grey, then cobalt/obsidian(shiny dark black) badging and trim like on some of the newer toyotas/nissans.

i was thinking of the plearlecent blue green purple colour the TVR has on the Tuscan.its a realy wicked colourhttp://www.b-link.co.uk/talkingtvr/t...can01large.jpg

Eurolook71 May 15th 2004 20:02

You can get the trim done is black chrome plating (seems like an oxymoron), but it does exist!

That would set it apart than just painted or powder-coated.

I like that scion orange, or how about that 350Z burnt orange color...

beetle1303 May 15th 2004 20:04

do you mean like this????

beetle1303 May 15th 2004 20:08

ohh btw thw car is going to roll on the wheels show in my profile :) :)

boygenius May 15th 2004 20:09

Very nice color. Have you looked at the price of that type of paint. I think a paint job with that type of paint can cost upwards of 6K...

beetle1303 May 15th 2004 20:13

the other opion i was considering is to buy some paint from House Of Kolor and do it my self.

i ve seen many cars with two colour blend.like yellow gold base coat and candy red on top...looks realy nce or lime green and blue on top???

boygenius May 15th 2004 20:23

Have you ever painted a car before. That would be a very expensive paint to start with. If you were to mess up you would just cry. :bawling:

Personaly I'm not a big fan of the 2 tone paint job. Too cal-look...

beetle1303 May 15th 2004 20:32

when i said two colour i didnt ment that the two colours will be in different parts...
you paint the whole car in a colour and you then repaint it like three times another colour.this give you the feeling that another colour might be hidding below the one you actually see.

boygenius May 15th 2004 20:54

I get it now. :)

VWader04 May 24th 2004 18:57

Black or Dark Gray(or is it Grey)
Overall theme is Dark!

undecided May 25th 2004 21:54

black. blacker than the hand of death. black, black, black. or maybe a deep charcoal. no, just black.

oasis May 26th 2004 11:58

I won't mention my first choice because I don't want anyone to copy. ;)

But, Choice 1.1 for me would be Fresco Green Metallic from the current VW selection (Passat, maybe others). I hope I spelled it correctly.

I have to agree what some else said earler (sorry didn't catch the name , but you know who you are!) , go with a colour that matches the personality of the car . Also , may I add , it should also match the personality of the owner ( I think both personalities , when you really look at it , will be very similar) . I know that I have my personal favourites when it comes to the colour I plan on chosing for my next project (after Mrs. Axl says its all right), but it seems the colour I want changes almost every single day , or depending on my mood , or after I see a really cool paint job , etc. You just have to pick a colour that you are going to be able to live with . Axl .
