Fall shows???

I want to try and make at least one this fall. If you guys had to pick just one, which one is probably gonna be the biggest for us??

NO_H2O July 28th 2004 02:40

Toccoa Sept 11-12 or Bug Jam Nov 13-14

Panelfantastic July 28th 2004 06:48

Definately Toccoca over Bug Jam... I think Bug Jam would be awesome but a heck of a drive to show off a half done project...

NO_H2O July 28th 2004 08:18

That would be a long haul period. Taccoa is a good show, not huge but fun. We had a blast last year. Camping, cookin' out, a few beers, talkin' smack with the Resto-Purist folks. I think we will do the VKG swap area so it will cost us a few bucks each to put our stuff out to sell and take turns tending the stuff. That swap meet has been good to me 2 years running. :agree:

Panelfantastic July 28th 2004 20:33

OK, wife is game for Toccoa. I am searching for a trailer I can borrow/rent/lease now. Scared of the uhaul stuff, a lot of coin for what is usually a beat-up heap and I've got over 1000 mls to travel.
I will keep everybody posted and be checking back for some hotel tips if I can get everything together.

1,000 miles, is that one way or both ways...

I'm not very good at geography...

Panelfantastic July 28th 2004 23:03

525 one way.

NO_H2O July 29th 2004 08:20

There is a hotel close to the show. Most of us will be camping Sat. night. Some will go to the hotel. I think Nigel Yellow73 stayed at the hotel last year. We will try to get you some info.

Panelfantastic July 29th 2004 08:38

If I was going solo, I'd nap in the back of my truck.
With my wife coming along, it's gotta be four star... not becuase she insists, but becuase we hardly ever get to take a break and I want us to have a decent place to shower and crash.

vujade July 29th 2004 08:54

I seriously doubt there is anything close to 4 start up there.
But you never know

oasis July 29th 2004 12:47

Toccoa, Georgia, I hope, and not Toccoa, Missouri. Where can I find more info about the show? ... and about camping*?

(* - if I'm bringing my family and if we haven't sold our Westy yet and if I'm willing to tow Shantung and if they want to  )

NO_H2O July 29th 2004 18:00

OK here is the Hotel info.
Days Inn. Toccoa (706)886-9461
Toccoa Inn (706)886-1048
I han't been to either one so I don't know how far from the Fairgrounds they are.

Panelfantastic August 1st 2004 18:09

Have access to trailer!
Any further info on hotels? Which is closer to the event? Which is the nicest/choice pick?

NO_H2O August 1st 2004 19:02

I think Nigle (Yellow 73) stayed at the Days Inn last year. I have not seen either place. Maybe there is some info on hotels.com etc.

yetibone August 1st 2004 19:21

I stayed at that Days Inn about 6 months ago. Rooms are around $50, and are OK. It's about 5 miles from the FG

I'll be camping. Can't beat the price there :agree:

Panelfantastic August 1st 2004 19:41

Hotels. listed a bunch in the area, two in Toccoa. The days inn and a place called Hearth inn. I'll let her choose. :D
Got a lot to do, hope we get to go.
Recap on who's coming??

NO_H2O August 1st 2004 20:23

Zen, Boygenius, Yeti & Sue, SpeedDreamer(said he was), Dale Shep, Mikey72, Nigel Yellow73, Joe Vujade, Jake and myself. Are going, best I can figure.
John Helgesen, Kenfyoozed, Dave Gofastinc Mace and Pillow are yet to say for sure one way or the other.
I will be staying at the hotel Eureka, within stumbling distance of the show.

Panelfantastic August 1st 2004 21:43

"Eureka"? That must be a locals only hangout?? :p

NO_H2O August 2nd 2004 01:35

7'x7' Eureka tent with a slumberjack sleeping bag with a pad and a pillow.

He's livin' large. You can tell he's a playa...

I'll be at the Coleman Inn, myself...

Panelfantastic August 4th 2004 10:37

Ok, we are booked into Cornelia just down the road.
Now we just need everything else in our life to go smooth until then so we can skip out for a couple days... :(

zen August 4th 2004 11:45

very cool panel. really looking forward to seeing that. jake's corral is getting full this time. damn i have GOT to get my car done now.

NO_H2O August 4th 2004 12:37

Glad to hear your going to make it. Look froward to meeting you in person.

Panelfantastic August 4th 2004 15:07

Thanks guys, we are looking forward to it also, mostly just to get away for a couple days.
Jake's corral? Guess I'll have to get on the other end of the park... he don't take kindly to the water :D :bawling: ...

zen August 4th 2004 17:01

LOL. true, but he is the one who said RAT engine or not, he is the club sponsor and he wants our cars in his corral. of course that was before he knew there was water. we can make you a cardboard cut out of a TIV to put behind it. and just tell him the rads are to cool down the kegs. :D

NO_H2O August 4th 2004 17:28

That thing has water in it,,,,,,,,all this time I thought it was a big A/C unit.

Panelfantastic August 4th 2004 21:30

Maybe we can push it to the back and keep it hush-hush :righton: !
What is the layout like at the show? Would I have a place to setup a 10x10 canopy to relax under near my bus?

NO_H2O August 4th 2004 22:05

I'm sure you can do that.

NO_H2O August 5th 2004 06:38

Pillow August 5th 2004 11:21

I cannot make Toccoa this year. But it is a great (medium size) event.

I think NoH2O gets al the good swap deals though! LOL

Granted I am planning on going to Bug Jam this year! It was fun. Granted this year without Susan (3 now) which it was not very friendly for. Teens and up for that weekends events all around.

GLF,

NO_H2O August 5th 2004 17:58

Bummer you won't make Toccoa Pillow.
I can't get ALL the deals. You just got-a look.

Panelfantastic August 6th 2004 05:57

Since we have such a long trip, we may not stay the two full days. How much of the event is split between the days? Most local stuff around here that goes two days, everybody is packing up by lunch on Sunday and heading out...

NO_H2O August 6th 2004 06:45

The show is Sun. Sat is just a people hangin' out, cookin' out, talkin' Smack, VW's and stuff. Sat. night is an outdoor party. This was the first VW show I went to a couple years back. When I got there, I didn't know anyone, when I left I had many new friends and had a blast. The Sat. night party is worth the drive. The West GA bunch is a great group of people to hang out with. Ask any of the VKG folks that came last year. Have your smack talkin' game on,,,,,I think you and I can have fun with the Purist crowd. Being a German Look/Super driver, I have a blast with them. Your reworked panel will add some spice to the mix  :agree:
If you have to split early, we will be ok with that.

Sounds like fun, I wasn't planning on coming saturday night, but I think I'm going to change my plans.
:agree:

Panelfantastic August 6th 2004 13:30

Trying to shift my plans to stay all day Sunday but we would have to drive up Saturday and would miss the drunken...er "festivities".
