Paint's Done!!!!!
I know I know,,,it isn't perfect, but for the price I paid it is realy nice and I'm satisfied.
I still need to bend the front grill out a bit on the passenger side, but other than that I can't wait to piece it together... :D Here's the link to the pics: http://www.geocities.com/vzif/restor...estobugnew.htm http://www.geocities.com/vzif/restor.../restobug2.htm http://www.geocities.com/vzif/restor.../restobug3.htm All comments welcome  |

If you want you can email them to me, I'd like to see them. md2284@yahoo.com but I have to say, I'll expect a comment from you on my Ghia when it's finished. ;) (joke) |
sure...I can send something.
How large a file can your email/computer handle?
Most of the pics are comin in at 50k... I could just send you a compressed folder. |
I can't see the pics, but I checked the member profile and it looks nice. I very nearly went with that color, until my wife talked me out of it. Looks great on a bug. You inspired me to update my pics too.

I just tried the links and they are fine....hmmmm?
|
Links all worked fine for me too!
Right on with the color choice...looks nice on the round body of a bug :agree: |
They work for me now also.
Nice silver! |

Thanks for the comments!
I'm especially happy with how they dealt with the driver's side hood hinge crack near the window and the antenna area...totally smooth and all welded. Other little mods include: a removable rear apron, welded and smoothed rear window vents/intakes (now gone) and rear bumper holes filled in. I also kept the hood latches (I just like them and I hated the hood release) and I also kept the front bumper holes. I'm going to meah them over and install fog lights bolted to the old bumper mounts under and behind the fenders.
On a side note...I'm looking for some Porsche Durant mirrors if anyone has some to sell and a plug for the old mirror hole on the driver's side door...maybe put a search light there? Any suggestions? |
Wow, Nice choice on the color.
|
all i can say is wow. :agree: that is an amazing transition from what it was. i absolutely love the color choice. you make me want to go outside right now and get my car stripped and repainted. i want to repaint it so bad but the little woman says i cant until after we get married in august and moved into our apartment. It will all happen in due time and i cant wait. PLEASE post more pics of your car when its all put back together ok? keep up the good work ;)

Turned out real nice, great color. Good luck with the rest of the job :agree:
|
nice color Uber Affe. :agree: what is the name of that color.
slim |
The color name...
The owner of the paint shop described it as "Eleanor Silver"
after the Mustang in "Gone In 60 Seconds" that was painted in much the same color if not the exact color.... It's a mix they've got that I really liked and I chose after I actually saw it on another customer's finished '67 Mustang. I originally wanted to go with a Dark Polar Silver like on the new Porsches...but this struck me as something unique and it was a good price. :D |
It was a great choice. looks great Uber Affe. :)

nice paint, but did you happen to notice you had a big hole smack dab in the center of your roof? should have patched it up before paint.
|
Holy Crap!
You're right!
I guess I can put a sun roof there.... :D |
Or maybe fill it with sunshine?
Your Beetle looks stunning :agree: |
