some of the biggest names in the VW industry to build a 51 Split..

the split they are working on was found in a pond by someone on the samba. the guy also found an oval rag along with the split

When I was down in Cali a couple weeks back the guys at BFY were talking about it. They got the remnants of a parts car that Monster Garage used to fix up the split. It's a drag race theme. Hope they didn't butcher it.:)

Not a big fan of the show but JJ is one talented mofo. For all the talent and money they throw at those things, they are a really poorly crafted finished product. Maybe it is the short deadline. It is painful to watch all those high dollar freebies go into something that still needs the crusher when done... :rolleyes:
The Overhaulin show seems to be a better example of what a car enthusiast would strive for, most of those projects have been a little on the bling side for my taste... but serious quality.

Yeah, I know what you mean about the build quality. 20 footers. The worst offender is 'pimp my ride'. Can we spell b-u-t-c-h-e-r-s? Remember when they did the suicide doors on the baja? "If it doesn't fit, get a bigger hammer".

I had a couple teens tell me at a local cruise that my bus looked "pimped". I think the poor bastages were trying to pay me a compliment... :confused: I just wish they'ed pull their britches up... :p

I agree. Overhaulin is the best at doing a quality job. Hack-My-Ride is the worst.

and JJ has two VW's, a beetle and a Ghia that is capable of tearing up every Honda on the streets according to him, seen it on an interview in a Magazine, this are two of his favorite cars.

I just got my new HotVw's today and there's a story on the build. I havn't read it all, but I've skimmed over it and the article looks interesting. The car looks Awesome! Concidering what they started with... :rolleyes:

My DISH network guide says its airing on 10/10, so that's Monday and probably 6pm PST.

Really wasn't much of an actual car there once the racer was done but it was really really cool seeing the group of guys they had doing it!
