Oil relief valves on a type one

Hi everyone, will someone please explain to me the setting on the AS-41 case, dual oil pressure relief valves pressure settings, thanks

Hi

I've always bought genuine VW ones and used the Type 3 slug with the ring around it at the oil pump end

Hi Steve, thanks for the reply. I have a friend that was able to find a machinst that can make him a new set of pressure relief valves (smaller). By doing this, the machinst is going to make a very thin sleeve of steel for the bore walls. He will keep the original pressure settings, or better yet add an adjustable on also. I believe somewhere in the past, I believe I read were Rimco use to open up the smaller side of the oil cooler for better flow. The problem with the Mag cases and Alum is expansion of dissimular metals. With the two same matals and there expansion rate I believe the oil pressure can be keep up and under control. If I can find a good enough seal at the cooler, I don't see why keeping 30psi will cause a problem. My friend said in the Bently manual the pressure settings were 17psi. The weak link is the oil cooler grommets. I think i'll also see if my machinst can mill a very small groove into the dog house adapter to seat the grommet on both ends. Thanks again.

Hay, I would like to know more of what you have just said. The 944 pressure reliefe valves were sleeved? Who did it work out?
