"German" wheels for 67 1300
Hi,
Just bought a 1967 1300 Beetle with 5/205 pattern. Want some modern wheels on it - but still keeping suspension travel and turning radius. Will not lower the car that much though. Saw the BMW inspired Beetle in March Volksworld - this is in line with what I want. I do not want standard Porsche or Beetle wheels like Fuchs, Sprint-stars etc. So - 6" wide at the most I think. Preferably some rubber also so 16" seems a good compromise. Going either to redrill drums, or make adapters. Thoughts and ideas? http://www.volksworld.com/imageBank/...March10-01.jpg |
So - I found some that looks nice - along what I`m thinking at least.
I also found an excellent article at Lanner`s page : http://www.vdubengineering.com/technical/wheel.htm It is a bit unclear about narrowed or not narrowed front beam - but as I understand 17" with 7" wide and ET of about 35+ is the optimal way to go. 16" and 6" should be even easier though - but I`ve almost only found Porsche wheels - design 90 - amongst others that has this side. It is an option though - 16x6" in front and 16x8" in the rear. http://www.imagewheels.co.uk/wheels/...classictif.jpg http://www.imagewheels.co.uk/wheels/small%20cast/dm.jpg http://www.bavauto.com//assets/produ...es/1/14226.jpg |
Sorry for all the pics - but here are some I instantly fell for: anyone recognise them and their size?

Did not find any similar in a quick search -
but did find some more pics of the wheel on the same car http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/37838.jpg Same car - perhaps anyone know of the owner? Remember seeing this many times in this last configuration - very nice car! http://www.vwspirit.ch/images/meetin...w2005_4077.JPG |
