my 56 money pit

the body have the channels removed and a metal bead instead of the plstic guard beading.

I,m using a 74 pan but removing the front and using a Mitshubishi L300 front end

this allows me to use the front disc & 7" wheels t comply with road laws in Victoria Australia it will be channelled 40mm higher to lower car and keep wheel geometry.
I,ll be welding in a complete 944 rear end 60mm higher for the same reasons as the front.

rear brakes honda NSX stud pattern allows better selection of wheels front the same stud pattern

gearbox porsche 915 .
http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...3.jpg~original
wheels will be 18,s rear & 17,s front.

Hi 56oval,

nice project.

Saw that you will be working with 915 gearbox. If you need short nose cone, front/rear mounting, axle flanges 100 mm,... ---> then have a look on www.bugat5speed.de

I like that you have a plan. I, too, would like to see the progress as it happens.

PJLOval June 20th 2006 11:01

Can you provide some additional detail about your front suspension. What body style did it come from? I'm guessing a truck? What it the distance between the wheel mounting flanges? Great project, let's see more progress!

56oval June 21st 2006 07:50

the front end is out of a 1984 Mitsubishi L300 van Hot rodders in Australia have used them. The other front end I thought of was Fiat 124cc .

ricola July 14th 2006 02:58

Malcolm,
is the 944 torsion tube exactly the same length?
Rich

56oval July 14th 2006 05:12

same width as super beetle and the steel arms are the same except for the longer axle & larger drive flange.you could do the same with the orignal torsion tube ,but in australia road adrs are a pain and using 944 rear helps me out.
