kafercup July 28th 2009 14:34

What size and offset did you use?

72marinablue July 28th 2009 14:50

They are 16x7 and 16x8 et49 all the way around. I have drop spindles in the fron that push the wheels out 6mm on each side. I am also running 15mm spacers in the rear. They do not rub at all. I had to take the stock swaybar off because the fronts were rubbing the clamps but other than that its good. Slightly smaller turning radius.

BBS's look right at home on a Beetle! Love the new wheels man ;)

I think so to! I am glad everyone likes them. The next thing to come are full whiteline swaybars.

Jim July 29th 2009 08:35

Very nice choice!!!

Steve C July 29th 2009 09:19

Hi

They look really nice, what else is happening with the bug?

Steve

72marinablue July 29th 2009 19:33

Swaybars are next. Eventually I am going to go with some Recaro seats. I really like the ones that came in the mk2 gti and gli but am not too keen on the colors. I would also like to put a 2.0 type 4 in. Something with some decent power but also daily drivability. Prob work some 914 heads, carbs, cam so on. Nothing too crazy. Other that that I am very happy with it. What I am trying to build is an old car, that performs more along the lines of a new car, but also has the nostalgia factor. I really like the concept of "OEM plus." taking parts from other cars while keeping the over all flavor the same.

They also look nice on a ghia

72marinablue August 24th 2009 14:55

Wow! I searched forever to find a picture of a beetle with rs's! The tire sizes that I am running are 205/45r16 and 205/50/r16. Here is another pic for kicks.

redhot February 28th 2010 09:04

What is the smallest BBS RS come in?

Want to fit a set to my 67 1300 - thinking 6" wide in front and 6 or 7" in the rear. Want a decent turning circle and suspension movement so probably no wider than 195 or 205 tires.

Bug@5speed(US) February 28th 2010 17:06

Very nice..

+1 for the BBS..

Alex

72marinablue March 1st 2010 02:30

Smallest size

Thanks Alex!

The smallest size rs's come in is 6 x 15.... but you might have trouble finding them as they where originally sold for this.

Your best bet is to find a set of 15 x 7's with appropriate offsets for your car. You can easily stuff them under your fenders but you might run into turning radius issues with a 15" as it will probably come into contact with your front swaybar/control arms.

Go through this list and try and find some that will work for you, and then begin the hunt for a good used set. I searched for a good 4-6 months before I found the ones that I wanted.

I think i am going to have issues with the classics, firstly with centre caps.. had the same problem trying to put boxster wheels on there is an early and late offset on porsches even thou they say ET55..

I have early N/A brakes and the grease cap will not allow me to fit caps without a 6mm spacer which pushes the front wheel out to far.. so need to fit early wheels to get it to tuck in

Possibly look at something in 7.5" ET65 for the fronts is the RS's don't go on

Anyone else had that problem with greascaps on early brakes and fitting wheels?

ricola March 8th 2010 09:38

modify the greasecap, plenty of space underneath it for the nut...

I may come to the dark side. Have a line on a set of 16x8's in 5x130. Will have to get a smaller inner barrel for the front to get it to 7. Thinking about it REAL hard.

They need to be refinished. So, were did you source the gold rim bolts? The center cap since it's polished, is Aluminum? The gold colour on your center looks damn close to the OEM BBS colour? Where did you source it? Paint code?

These will replace my chrome 17's on the super.

thanks,
Pete

SilverBullet April 29th 2010 05:07

Whats the widest tires for the 9x16s? I could only find 245/45/16. on 16x9 fuches.
