Hey guys,
here is a progress pic of my T04 turbo project, I figure it will be finnished by the fall. I had a hard time fitting that under the ghia apron, theres no way that would fit under a bug.

Will you be using a muffler?
 

I notice in the photo that you just have a down-turn that seems to go nowhere. Are you going to be using a muffler?

Also, how is your turbo drain plumbed? It appears to exit the turbo and split into two pipes that enters either side of the pump.
What is the story with this?

Yeah, that is the suction side of my dry sump pump. I am using it to suck the drain out of the turbo, thus keeping the super hot oil out of my case and pumping it directly to the oil coolers.

I have since researched this a bit, and I have decided to change it , I will be giving the turbo its own little sump, much like the 930 uses. So that when the engine/oil pump is turned off, the residual oil presure doesnt back up in the pipe and coke my bearings. Instead, it will trickle into a sump, where it will get sucked up next time I start the engine.

no muffler for now, but if it gets too loud, I have a 3" dymomax i can use to keep it civilized.

Looking good!! i was thinking of a T3/T4 for mine, but as you said, clearance is a problem. I'm still pondering the sump idea for the turbo drain. But I'm still favoring a pump as on Marco T.S.E.'s car.

If you have the line splits into two and goes into both sides of the pump, where does it come from when it gets sent to the cooler?

Also, how much flow are you getting? The turbo doesn't have alot of oil in gph flowing through it, so do you have a method of de-aerating the oil as it comes out of the turbo in a froth correct?

hiya,

the scavenger pump picks up oil from the sock pickup tube and the turbo drain, then sends it out to the coolers via the stainless braided hose that kinda hangs low to the right. the mini sump for the turbo would receive suction from the scavenger pump.

The scavenger pump gears are twice the size of the engine oil pump, this is why I decided to not use the CB dry sump pump, the gears were too small. I was getting oil blowing throught the pulley due to the high oil level in the case

Sump looks sweet. How big is it?

Hey guys,
The sump is 3"stainless pipe by 2" long, it's sole purpose is to keep the drain oil out of the turbo bearings.
Anyways, heres an upadted pic of the install
