1303 dash refinish with tolex.
Sorry, just realized I posted this in the wrong place. Feel free to move.
Has anyone ever redone their cracked faded dash with tolex? http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/7/1/1...9260194_tp.jpg The same material they use the cover guitar amp cabinets with. I'm thinking maybe smoothing out the raised cracks with a sanding disk attachment, leveling / reshaping it with body filler, then using some spray adhesive to adhere the tolex, and then cut as necessary with a razor. Tolex runs about $35 dollars for a 54" x 36" (21.25 cm x 14.17 cm). A can of 3m spray adhesive is $10. Just thinking out loud here since mine needs some attention and those dash covers are $65 plus shipping and that doesn't take care of the whole dash. Not to mention, tolex comes in many different colors and textures. http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/7/1/1...9260827_tp.jpg http://members.nucite.com/genViewIma...=519768&m=1032 http://members.nucite.com/genViewIma...=519773&m=1032 http://members.nucite.com/genViewIma...=519784&m=1032 I'm sure you could easily make your dash like these for a fraction of the cost. http://www.feine-cabrios.com/cms/upl.../innen1123.jpg |
