whats up with it? can it be repaired?

Paul @ Bears phoned me on Friday - he's managed to source one for £250.
Not a bad price i gues - i was going to get one from Martin for $400 (he had an OG one - not conversion one on the shelf) Rob - gearbox is a funny one. Paul said it looked like it had a very recent rebuild and the internals were in great nick. however, the nose cone had a crack and had been welded but also the bore in it had become ovaled (same in the intermediate section) so didn't have a reference point to sleeve it. Now he's got a nose cone to take a reference from he can sleeve the intermediate section and put it all back together. Fingers crossed he'l have it ready for me by wednesday morning. I'l give you a bell on monday re engine. Cheers Deano |
Hope you get it sorted it mate. Still no progress on mine :(
Trying to find someone to machine the Porsche hubs for me. Can't do anything without them. And remember, if you ever want to sell that reg plate ;) |
If you dont find anyone to do your hubs give me a shout and il get it sorted. :)
Finally got the gearbox back from bears and everything is back in and running ive got a few bits of finishing to do - but nothing major. ive raised the front half an inch and lowered the back about an inch. i might lower the back a tad more - havnt decided yet. next step is rolling road although ive got my eye on some jenveys :lmao: |
Deano, I remember this car from a long time ago 2005?
Have you finished it yet? |
Hey matt!
Long time no speak - hows your bay doing? Dont think they are ever finished are they?? Ive recently lowered the back a tad more. Clutch started slipping a tiny bit last time i was out in it though so looked like ive got to pull the motor again! Still got a few other bits and pices to do but its 99 % there :) http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...4.jpg~original http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...A.jpg~original :D |

Matt how is the house move going - you sorted somewhere now. Dean, looking good as ever ;) |

Here in North America they are known as a "linch pin" or "PTO pin". They're simply a locking pin with wire retainer. I've been meaning to do mine since I built the car...one day I'll get to it!

Bogara in Europe you can find them online here

I got mine from VW heritage- simple idea but make life so easy! couple that with a removable rear valance and Hi Pac access panels - engine removal is a breeze!
ive seen some people make their whole rear end removable but im really not a fan of chopping the rear body work around THAT much. |

I prefer quick-release "Pip" pins. The ones I used are 1/4" x 3".
