Just got my 2320 T4 from Charles...

I bought a 2320 off of Charles from LN Engineering. It finally arrived the other day.

It is a 71 x 102 Nickies equipted beast with 2.0 Heads and only 3000 miles on it. This engine was balanced by Jake and built by Shad. Everything has been cryo'ed too.

I have to tear it down and replace the cam & lifters because he had it set up with a Hydaulic Cam & Lifters. I will be using Ceramic Lifters and one of Jakes split duration cams.

I cant wait to get this thing torn down and put back together for my Fasty.
Im sure Ill have some questions for you guys along the way....

It also has a set of Pauter Rockers which I may be selling soon

very cool. congrats. i know that gets the blood flowing. now that would make one hell of a tech article. :D

that is going to be a hell of a ride when you drop it in. time for those big ole brakes.

Sweet deal man... I can't wait to see how fast your car will be. :D :D

Sounds like it will make a nice mill. Get it freshened up and stuff it in.

thanks guys....

looks like i might be trading the Pauter Rockers with Jake for one of his split duration cams & his new lifters....stay tuned! :D

just pulled the right head off and found exactly what I was hoping i wouldnt find.

the valve failure that Charles had (caused by the Pauter Rockers) damaged one of the JE pistons, it put a bunch of holes in the top and also wedge the top of the broken valve halfway down into the top of the piston.

I knew going into this that I was going to half to replace the cam, lifters and get some valve work done, didnt realize I would have to get a new piston and also have the head cleaned up too from the shrapnal damage. :bawling:

dude. sorry to hear that. i can say that i know how you feel though. :bawling:

vujade June 27th 2004 16:27

well its not going to be that bad after all, charles is going to hook me up with a new set of JE"s :)

NO_H2O June 27th 2004 17:07

Sound ugly in there. But a hook up on some new pistons will help alot.

boygenius June 28th 2004 01:01

Sorry to hear about the piston to valve disaster but glad to hear that Charles is helping you out with a new set of pistons. :)

Joe, hopefully the crank and rods are ok. Sounds like when you get her back together with the new parts it will be quite the powerplant.

I hope that works out for you Joe!

Frankly I am surprised something Shad built would have issues like that as he is very anal about quality building of things. I guess a bad part can bite anybody.

If you need any stock T4 parts let me know as I need to go to the bone yard while I am in Atlanta this weekend. Granted for something like this I doubt you need anything as it is all custom.

Good Luck!

I think the failure was caused by the Pauter Rockers, not a faulty part.
Jake says the have to much lift for this engine and do not get oiled properly.
They need a custom oiling system for the valve covers.
I will be replacing the Pauters with stock 2.0 rockers (probably have them lightened)
