no cut suby

Can you put a suby in a beetle without cutting? Sent way to much time and money on body and paint. Are there a kit or turnkey set-up avalible. Thanks

Lots of info on www.aussieveedubbers.com in the non-vw engine conversions area. The EJ22 seems to be a pretty popular choice though.

Jake Raby is ankle-deep (from a head-first perspective ;) ) into r&d of Suby conversions. My guess is when he develops something he feels happy about attachng his name, he will have some options available. There's no timetable -- when it happens, it happens. Otherwise, I have not seen anyone develop a kit as such.

No cutting is not possible IMO. As a minimum you will need to cut for a radiator. I believe you could be careful and not detrimentally affect the external paint job if using a twin cam engine...

Agreed, I waited 6 months before I touched up any paintwork on mine around the radiator intake and rear apron.

The SOHC engines from EJ22 and smaller fit with no bodywork except a peice of the seal channel on the apron cut either side.

A removable apron makes life alot easier though, again I did mine with no welding, and I didn't paint anything till 6 months later.

What model bug is it?
