brake lines with 944T brakes

i am converting to 944T brakes all around on my '73 standard. what soft lines do i get? i have length differences and fittings in mind. do standard VW work? or are the fittings different between VW and Porsche. with 1 3/4" extra track width per side, do i need the extra length in the lines or is the added track width outboard or what?

i don't have the parts in hand yet to do the comparison so need your help to know what to get on order. if you can include your preferred source it would be appreciated.

i love time crunches. :silly:

Since I didn't use the wider rear arms I am not for sure, but probably the soft lines are the same as others and the hard lines are longer. On mine the VW lines match up to the early calipers, I don't know about the 944Ts. I used all new VW lines both hard and soft (later stainless) to get everything to work. I had to get adapters for the Wilwood calipers.
Hope fully I will be ready to put up my garage soon. It has taken six months to finish the foundation with all the rock in the soil.

i hear ya chigger. i am getting ready to move and will have to have a garage built when i get there so i have a place to work on the bug. don't have the time to build it myself though.

i was reading over superman's new tech article (great timing on it too) last night. i wasn't expecting to have to replace all of the hard lines too, but guess it is best while there. not sure my little brain got all of it, but will flush it out sooner or later. now just have to find a source since there is nothing standard about it.

As for hardlines NAPA usually carries a good selection of different lengths in metric (fits VW and Porsche stuff) that you can custom bend to your needs.

When I do the bus rear brakes and 944 MC I will need to custom up a lot of things and had my eye on the NAPA parts.

Custom is fun :)

I went over to my friends shop and he had a pile of unused lines for bugs. You can get a complete set of lines for a bug from bugpack. Just buy two sets and you will have enough lines for about anything. I think a set of lines includes lines for several different applications.

i was just reading an article in VWT on making your own too. seems easy enough and there is just a couple of custom things for the conversion to 944. just have to determine what path to take on the brake light switch.
