Porsche 944T calipers on drop spindles? How?

Hello team,

I've run into a challenge and am sure someone has a solution.

I've got 86 944T hubs mounted on my drop spindles (CB which are cast) and am concerned about mounting the caliper. I was thinking to cut the std mounting point off and weld a bracket onto it, but the shop I spoke to on it says NO! They say the cast iron would be too brittle after welding (potentially).

So, how did you do it?

They are correct. Welding anything cast is a challenge. You will have to bolt the brackets on. Lanner did mine! He is not the far from you!

I'm actually in Oregon now so I'm a billion miles away.

Hi

I had brackets made to bolt to the stub axle, I enlarged the dust cover mounting bolt holes, I removed the stock calliper bracket ears.

Yeah definitely no welding.

On the drop spindles I drill in two holes to hold the caliper bracket. It's the only way to go about it since there are no existing reference holes. And the stock caliper ears get cut off accordingly.

On stock spindles I fabricate brackets similar to what Steve posted.
