American Racing Wheels
I found a set I like, and did some research and noticed alot of you guys use wheels with 42et or higher, but I notice also most use 16's or bigger.I found a 15x7" rim with a 50et with 6" backspacing. Is there a reason you guys skip over the 15's and go bigger besides just because it fills up the wheel well?
Also would they both fit under the front and rear, because I did see some guys in the readers rides galleries running stock fenders with the wheels tucked in for a stockish look? Again thanks alot guys. |

To get the wheels tucked back under the fenders, some run a narrowed beam. Because, once you get those 55et wheels spaced out from hitting torsion arms, and sway bar while turning, you have to get the wheels back under the fenders.;) |
Ok so 50+et rims in 15inch are a bad idea then I guess, does the same go for the rims with the et in the 40's?
|
40et's would be easier to deal with.
|
less measuring i take it?
|
Thinner spacers, (if needed at all) depending on spindles, and hubs used.
|
ok so 15's or 16's with a 40 et will be a better choice, i'll start looking so i know what i want:laugh: Whats the best bolt pattern to get.4-100 is mostly fwd, 5-100 mostly fwd, chevy and ford bolt patterns that are common addapters are mostly rwdThe reason for addapters is so if i ever want to go back to stock i can w/o modifications.

does anyone make adapters for 4-130 to 5-130, to fit cookie cutters?
Nevermind I found some from Wolfsgang site for 69.99 a pair, also klearning something new from there site. A lot of people think that wheel adapters are weak and you will have problems. Well, that's only partially true. The truth is, if you go from a small pattern drum to a large pattern wheel, or a small pattern drum to a small pattern wheel, then the adapter is flat and is as strong as the drum or stronger. But if you go from a large pattern drum to a small pattern wheel, the adapters are weaker, because they have to flower out and we don't recommend those. |
The real reason adaptors are not a great idea is that there are so many more screws involved that could come loose. The adaptor could break. Leave out all those parts and they can't fail.
|
Well if i win the wheels i'll run adapters because i want to retain the stock bolt pattern. Will cookies stick out on a 72 standard bug front and rear with 15x6's and 15x7's? If tires size matters they will be 195/60/15's
