New Toy!
Hey all,
Well after selling my dune buggy/rail. Not only did it profit me a bit of coin for my hard work and efforts but it re-instilled that off road bug that never seems to leave me. Now long before I ever owned an air cooled VW, I wanted one of these guys. I can't put my finger on it, but I think they are just too cool! It has a bunch of beetle parts on it (speedo, steering column, etc) as well as a bunch of VW Audi parts. So when this one came up for sale I had to have it! I don't have any decent pics yet, so this will have to suffice: http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...a.jpg~original 1985 Bombardier Iltis. SO stoked! It's slow as hell, noisy, rough, ugly as sin. But it's a sweetheart. (Maybe I like it because we have so much in common!) Just had to share! Alex P.S. My motor is still coming along quite nicely. It will debut next spring, and I'll show you guys what a real NA motor and a lunatic driver can do!:D |
SOOOO SOOOO you ended up getting it eh...
very nice Buddy you will have to bring it by some time. Chris. P.S can't wait to See the NA motor DONE too |
Love the Iltis. They are very cool. You don't see them very often. I bet you will gather a crowd every time you take it somewere. Every time we take my wife's Pinzgauer 710 out, it draws a crowd. We cant stop for fuel or go to Home Depot without a few people wanting to look at it and talk.
Very nice. |

F'N Awesome! I've always had a soft spot for foreign military vehicles. That's one of the nicer looking Pinz's that I've seen. How long have you had it? does it see lots of use?
One day I'd love to get a Unimog http://myhandywork.com/images/unimog2.JPG Alex |
We have had it for 2 years. As soon as we bought it we put it to use as the track taxi at Petit Le Manns 07. It was a hit. She drives it to work a couple times a month. She works with several guys who own 4x4's and has to keep them humble and let them know who is "Queen" of the hill when it comes to off road vehicles. LOL.
We like Mog's too but had to have an aircooled toy. She now has a 24 volt 12,000 lb winch on the front of it (not pictured). Now back to the Iltis. We don't want to hi-jack this thread. |
Sweet ride Alex! Congrats...........
