Bolt Porn

I found these, and though they are quite expensive, they are also quite light. Have you ever held all of your fender bolts in one hand? They add up!

Just like the aluminium wheel nuts, nice to have and very light. Although titanium is nice and makes people dribble, its unnecessary

I like the way they are flanged, but have a look on Ebay for much cheaper options in packs. Your local fastener company might have something similar. I wouldn't think that there will be much difference in weight once you shave the head and reduce the socket size, probably talking a few grams over the whole set of wing bolts

I agree! Some years ago at EBI there was a booth with all stainless bolts for the fenders and bumper brackets. It was reall nice not to have rusty bolts anymore, but the sack of bolts and rings was really heavy. The plstic bag almost tore apart under its weight!
I wouldn't use them for the bumpers of course, but this is very interesting as my light-weight fiberglass fenders wouldn't even need the strong stainless bolts anyways. Alu ones like these would be quite enough and would save several kilos easily.
Thanks!

But Wally you're missing the point of these that I would have thought would have been considered first:
You can lock the bolts in position with lock wire..........;):D

I also bought some nylon bolts for I think $12, they are probably lighter yet, and as Wally mentioned for fiberglass it may b just fine. I want to get the alu bolts for the front fenders thought, even though they are fiberglass they are strong and may offer quite a bit of energy absorption if bolted correctly, and the alu ones are PLENTY strong.

As to Ebay, while u guys have awesome stuff in the UK and EU, the selection in NA sucks, couldnt find anything close to what I'm looking at, and similar types of stuff was priced similarly to Pro-Bolt.

You guys have issues...though they say 7lbs = 1 hp.:D

I'm going to make a new chassis for the Ghia from Unobtanium tubing my friend who was an extra in Avatar brought home for me. Damn near floats!

Anyone need any? My tires'll be filled with helium so help shave weight as well.

Some may salivate and some may shake their heads, but they are now ordered up. Made in the UK.
