engine brace

Hi Dan,

Thanks for uploading your profile.

I have a question about your rear engine brace. Did you make it yourself ? What is it made from ? It looks like the bar has been preloaded....is that the case ?

One more question....how do you like the DTM Shroud ?

Thanks !

Sandeep

The Jpipes and Header are from Lee at L.A. Performance in England - they are mild steel painted with a high temp paint. The car is only summer driven so I felt the the mild steel would do just fine.

The Muffler is a Fat Boy from John at aircooled.net

Stainless muffler w/mild steel pipe.

The Jpipes and header were fairly spendy as I live in the U.S. (Michigan) so a lot of my cost was shipping (total was about 450/500$ u.s.)

The muffler was fairly inexpensive (check aircooled.net for pricing)

<< have a question about your rear engine brace. Did you make it yourself ? What is it made from ? It looks like the bar has been preloaded....is that the case >>

the engine brace is a BAS unit. And yes you do put a little preload on it when installing.

ion....how do you like the DTM Shroud ?>>

The DTM is a work of art. Head temps never rise above 400 - oil temps stay sane - although I am running 2 external plate coolers also.
I would absolutely recommend the unit or I would also absolutely purchase another.

Any other questions ? - let 'em fly !!

DID you narrow the front beam?

If not what front suspension mods did you do?

thanks

Stock (lowered) front beam - no narrowing.

I didn't do any suspension mods other than shorter shocks.

Dan, I have a question.

So, are we gonna line up for this Spring over on the east side? I gotta see what each car can do... :)

Oh, Grant and I are starting a club, Der Grosser Vier (I think thats how it's spelled). It's supposed to mean "The Big Four".

No manditory meetings (other then meeting for a round of brews or something), no membership dues, only rule is we hang together at car shows to support the T4 cause.

Anyone with a T4 is allowed, and only mostly stock bodies (so that goober with the white chopped up Bug isn't allowed).

:)

Later,
Tom

WHEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

I've got one of my motorcycle helmets rigged with one of those lipstick cameras for taking footage when we ride - I'
ll bring it with me and we'll get some more stuff to post !!

Let's see........... We can do standing starts......do some roll ons......then....let's take 'em out on the highway !! I've had my speedo wrapped clean around..... The front end started getting scary so I let off...Yeah - let's do it.

I'm in - and I'm in for beers....Remember - I live just doors from a brewery...and you guys live near Mecca ( Bell's Brewey ) - this club thing could work out !

<< ock bodies (so that goober with the white chopped up Bug isn't allowed).>>

Hey now........be nice to my friend Jethro....and his sister/wife Jethrine....

Hi Dan - that is a great ride you have there...muchos credit to you!

How did you go fitting the wheels on the rear (Swing axle right?) - many clearance probs? Any spacers required?

I am using a 68 s/a pan with CB discs all round (short axles), stock width BJ beam and a 63 body. I have just bought a set of 17x7.5in replica Cup3 turbo twists (all ET52). The fronts seem to fit okay (although body is still off pan) but the rears hit the spring plates and bump stop...I'll have to run spacers, just trying to figure out how wide they'll have to be!

Any help is appreciated.

Hello !

I ran 52et offsets on the front with 15/20mm spacer from performance technologies and 23 offsets in the rear with the same spacers. No fitment problems at all.
I'm going to try to run 944t brakes this summer so my track my increase slightly again and I may be able to get rid of the spacers.

Good Luck !!

Dan

I'm using CB Performance fuel injection (as stated in the description) and the J&S knock sensor is available from aircooled.net and is set up for our motors.

Thanks, Dan

It took some time to get the injector sizing right.
Once that was figured out it runs great.
