Pinzgauer
Sort of a note to Dave (No_H2O) but open to anyone with one of these special vehicles ... what do you do / where do you go for general maintenance and major repairs?

For our Pinzgauer and our Hagglunds we do all the repairs in-house. The Pinz can be a bit of a challenge with the diff-locks, but once working correctly the trick is just ensuring they aren't double-pumped. For parts, it's often a case of figuring out what was used on the vehicles, or buying from a Pinz dealer directly. The carbs, for instance, are also used on a Porsche model. Carb rebuild kits were 1/3rd the price from Pelican Parts as they were from a Pinz dealer. I've found plenty of 'shared parts' like that, though I admit more on the Hagglunds then the Pinz.
If you can work on an aircooled VW, a Pinzgauer is not much more complicated. -Dave |
Looks like I missed this one. It just caught my eye. I work on ours myself. The manual that came with it is good. Forum support is good. Some parts are common to other vehicles. Some parts are pure Pinz.
