Aftermarket seats
Is anyone using these seats you see advertised in the ricer mags? I know you can get them at Pep Boys too. I think the brand is APC. Anyway, I saw a set in my new Summit catalog that were black/carbon fiber. Would look sweet in my ride. Quality seems okay from what I've seen from the ones I butt tested at Pep Boys, and they're only $200 a piece, but I'm wondering about comfort for daily driving and fitment issues. They look like a cheaper alternative to Sparco or Corbeau. Thoughts?

Summit also has all black or tan or gray fake leather seats. They look like factory sport seats and they are 4 point harness ready. I think they are a little higher class looking than the rice seats.

Yeah I saw those in the catalog. That's pretty much what I was asking about. They're the ricer seats without the logo. Anyone used something like this?

OK, I was thinking about ordering them but I want to find a set of boxster seats for a reasonable price. They are a tempting option though. :D

$200 a piece is a very good price. I had thought about junkyard seats, and I still might, but around here, most of the junkyards pull the glass out first. So unless you get them when they first come in, the interior is pretty much trashed. And shipping seats from eBay is about $100 a seat. At least Summit only charges $60 a seat. The only reason I'd thought about the ricer seats was because the local Pep Boys keeps them in stock (no shipping). The Summit seats look really nice, but I still worry about quality. They also sell Procar for around 350. How's the quality with those?

If you are trying tobuy new seats from an ebay store they make there money on the shipping usually charging $160... Most people who are selling their own used seats charge around $60 to $80 shipping for both seats. I have seen the procar seats first hand but never actually sat in them so I can't say how they felt as far as comfort goes. They look pretty good and I'm sure someone else will pipe in with some more personal experiance. :D

I have a pair of the Summit leather look seats in my BMW. They are a good deal for the $$$. I have made 2 long trips in that car (2500 mi each). Very supportive and comfortable.
You can see them in my website- www.e21motorsports.com/kendanielson they are in the '82 bmw section ken |
Thanks Ken, I was hoping someone could give me a personal experience with them. I've pretty much decided to get them anyway, but it's nice to know they are comfy!

I'm still thinking about those Pep Boys seats. I went to the local junk yard today and spied a couple of nice candidates, but nothing that wouldn't require some reupholstering. And at $75 a seat, plus whatever it would cost to recover them.. I think the aftermarket seats would be best.
I might just redo the stocker's for now though. |

These are the other seats I looked at. Opinions? |
look to be nice seats. i have never sat in them though. i have been having the same issues of considering junk yard or used finds, but they almost always require recovering which is costly. so i too am thinking aftermarket for the ghia, but don't want race seats in the bus. so not sure what i will do there.

Something else I noticed while at Pep Boys today, those 3A Racing seats don't pop forward. Definitely limiting back seat access!!
|
i believe their catalog had both those and the versions that do, but not sure. i've looked at too many recently. agree that that is a must for me too.
