Help I want use 17 on a 72 standard beetle using 924 brakes
 

I am restoring a 72 beetle...

I have installed new floors and next will be working on the body off the frame of course...

Now comes the part that confuses me...

I will be using 924 porsche disk brakes in the front and 924 drums in the rear...

I beleive that the bolt pattern is the same as a ford escort...

Now what size rims should use and will they stick out of the fenders?

And what should I do to fit the rims so they work and look good?

And is it a good Idea to use the 924 brake Idea?

Is it a standard beetle or a super. What type/brand of wheels were you planning on using? If you use 944 rear suspension you will have 5-130 bolt pattern and you can then use porsche wheels which have a better offset for your car. Its not that 924 parts are bad but that there is so much more info on the 944 suspension. ;)

I want to use the red 9 design lowering kit for front and rear...

The reson why i want to use 924 disk brakes and drums is ,i can use beetle brakes or horizon caliprs...

and keep cost down,and at the same time the bolt pattern would be differant...

if there is a better way that is not much more money,please let me know...

the pattern on the 924 is the same as older escorts and mustangs,but what worries me is,will the rims stick out beyond the fenders...

I was thinking of maybe 205 45 17 this is where i get lost...

The red 9 design front lowering kit is about $500 plus shipping from the UK. Just a suggestion but you could get a CB-performance front disc brake kit with 2 1/2" dropped spindles for around $500. How are you going to attach the 924 front brakes to your ball joint front suspension. You can use steel 944 rear trailing arms with brakes as they just bolt on. You can lower the rear of your car by adjusting the splines on your rear torsion bars. You can use the porsche torsion bars for a firmer ride. This way you can run porsche wheels on your car, if thats what you want.:D

My advice is to keep the stock rear arms. Easy. The 944 brakes bolt right onto the stock VW rear IRS arms.

As for the brakes it would be unique. Try www.924board.org for some ideas on 4-bolt wheels. As far as I can gather anything with roughly a 52.3mm offset should work.

I thought I could just use the disk brakes from the 924 and horizen calipers with stock spindles from a a bug that has disk brakes...
