1302 sport springs/944 struts

Superman,
Here's a pic of the spring, and strut tube, as it went together. I did modify the springs to adjust the ride height. I know it's kinda ugly lookin'. I'm sanding the last coat of primer, and painting the interior, and door jams dark purple pearl, VW LZ4V (new VW color)

The springs looked like they were the same diameter when I dismantled both sets of struts. The ones in the picture were advertised as "Sport Springs" from Mid America Direct. they are smaller diameter in the center, than on the ends. I re-did the spring/clip thingy with a welding rod on both sides since the photo.

Thanks for the pic, it helps a lot. I still think that the 944 springs have a larger O.D. than the 1302/3 and in the picture it does appear they [the VW springs] are smaller by about 5 to 10mm. In my opinion it would be better, read safer, to just use the VW strut housing since it will bolt to the 944 spindle anyway.

Your'e right. There is about 5mm difference. I gotta friend with a GTI 16v who might sell me two strut tubes...

Okay, take note that the Golf struts are shorter (if memory serves correctly) by 3 inches, so there will be some lowering.

Why don't you just use some 1303 strut housings?
