That's a pretty sweet ride!!! How many HP do you think you make with that motor?

My car at this time have only 270hp(ethanol powered), but in Brazil if you have "hard" money its go to 900hp up  Dyno record 950hp!

My little engine broken four original gearbox. Don't have many Porsche gearbox here and very expensive to import it. I think the original GTI gearbox its good solution but the project its very complicated. I'm use the box come to VW BUS KOMBI DIESEL. VW Gol BX inside 31x8 ring pinion.

Apparently Bus trannys are good for much more HP than stock trannys, so you may be just fine there!

Just a little update:

I've recieved the new radiator, it turned out OK, but a few things weren't the way I ordered it. For example I had calculated adding width equal to the removal volume of 2 rows off of the bottom to maintain the same total volume. Well, when I mentioned it would be about 7" tall, that number stuck and the 2 row removal number did not, so he actually removed 3 as compared to the original one I had to make sure he didn't go over 7", apparently not realizing that 7" was just an appox. height. The other thing that wasn't too smooth was the outlet had to have a couple of angles in it that were really messed up and I had those repaired here.

The big picture of the volume loss is still up in the air. I need to spend more time getting the ducting set up correctly. The old rad hung down into the airflow an inch more that the new one, so I might be expecting too much from just putting it in there without any ducting, but it won't run as cool as I want it, about 195 deg right now, which isn't too bad, but I'm only running 190hp, and I want to go 250-300. Ducting may make all the difference, but I really would have preferred the additional volume. So, may be OK, but I suspect I'll have to get another one made, a little taller and maybe even wider than what I have now.

Still no progress on the rear suspension re-design, that'll be a winter project, but I've got a little boy now so he takes a little more time away from the bug!

You might as well drag that cradle out to the garage and get him used to the sound of bangin' and wrenchin'! :D
Good luck on the cooling re-do, you're already in fairly good shape, a little tweak is all it needs.

A real intercooler in finally. Mike at 034 did a great job of the install, I do think I need a retune though, having trouble with a low idle and I've even had it stall dropping too low after throttle off. At least I've got something to work with now...

Can you tell me which type of Momo steering wheel you have there? How much smaller is it over a 60's Bug item, was it an easy fit to the coloum and do you know the dia of the centre cap - just wondering if a Porsche badge would fit in there.

Tks

It's called a Race, kinda ricer but I like the looks of it. I think it's at least an inch smaller in diameter, but I havn't measured both of them and the car is at bodywork now. The column is the stock '60 column, I bought an adapter from California Imports up in Canada, then I built an adapter to make the MOMO work with that. The center cap is standard MOMO too, so I think someone will make a Porsche center cap that will fit, I'm sure many Porsche's have MOMO wheels while keeping the Porsche center cap. If you hit me up in a couple of weeks I'll be able to measure both for you.

Tks Jason. It may look a little Ricer but I like it and am looking for something like this for the 62. May have to look out for one of these on ebay.

She went to the paint shop tonight! Still needs to be blocked, sealed, painted, color sanded, and polished. Seems like a lot but it's been moving along pretty well. The wheels however are done, Jazz Blue VW paint, it looks different in different light, but the camera does not do it justice!
