NACA Ducts
Hi, I'm not exactly sure which area my subject should be in, so if I'm in the wrong area, please move it.At some point I hope to get to the ducting for the extra amount of air I will need for my intercooler. I had some glass cut and tempered for the rear side pop-out windows, to install the NACA ducts into.

I believe there will be alot of engine noise in the drivers arer, anyone out there that has NACA can share how noisy it is? http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k9...a.jpg~original |
The NACA duct is silent. The intake roar through my carbs and the bare firewall however, are not. Still, I can shut the car off at 120kph and I hear no difference between duct wide open or covered.
-Dave Winter mode has three covers (complete, partial and minor), summer mode is wide open (but I don't have a photo handy) http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8391/8...652283bf_b.jpg |
Hi,I think I didn't make myself clear, but I believe you answered my question. So let me be clear on this, when you're engine is on, the tubing that funnels the air into the engine compartment allows the engine nose as well ; let alone the lack of sounding deadening in the back paneling just added to the nose?

Ahhh, my NACA doesn't funnel to the engine compartment, it goes to the oil-cooler mounted on the bottom of the luggage area.

Thank you for replying. Given that your NACA, does not go tho the engine area, is there extra noise coming from the package tray area due to being vented on top of the trans area.
I'm really trying to try and head off extra, extra interior noise. I need the vented cooling for the intercooler, but not at the cost of engine nose. Thanks again |
Hi
Are you going to get enough air flow with a NACA duct, you might be better off with an air to water unit Steve |

sound wrap
Sound wrap, well that's a thought. My intercooler is not very large, however I do want to be able to use less of a secondary electrical fan as possible. O by the way I will have two NACA ducts one in each of the back/side windows.
