Suspension setup with 944 brakes .??
I have just got hold of a 1973 1303 that i plan on going the German/Euro look with. I will be fitting 944 Brembo 4 pots at the rear. And either Brembo 4 pots or the earlier sliding caliper type on the front.
I have got a set of 9"x16" ET70 and 7"x16" ET55 Boxster wheels that i plan on fitting with a set of Kerscher 2" Oversize wings. What is the best suspension set up that i could go for.? Could i use Koni's on the front and rear, or should i go for something different.? |
If you are installing 944 parts on your 1973 1303 it's important to know whether you have an early one or late one. I have an early '73 vert that has the 3 bolt struts, so the 944 parts won't fit. I need to purchase a parts car to scavenge the front end before I can do my conversion. Good luck

You're not going to want the 4 pistion calipers in the rear and not the front. The bigger/mor powerful brakes should always be in the front.

Don O I have a complete 74 1303 Suspension if you want to buy it.
Let me know |
Thanks guys. :) I will be fitting the 4 pots all round then. ;)
I can probably get a hold of the rack and other parts from a later car if it will make it any easier. Is it the 2 bolt type that i am after.? Any recommendations for the suspension as i am pretty new to this. :silly: Kind regards Richie |
See the "How To" post by me in the brake forum. Also, I have written an article that will be on my SBO! site after the 1st. There will be a condensed copy here as well.

I have a competent mechanic who has carried out the brake conversion on a few cars, but i am curious as to what type of suspension setup people are using. I know of a pair of front Red Koni's that are for sale for a good price and wondered if i could use them on the front. I could also do with some info about the rear setup as well. Regards Richie :D |
