power wash?
now that i have my t4 completely stripped. would it be bad if i power washed my case inside and out? i'll dry it off real good.
ok i had to edit this post cus i don't wanna make another thread. I'm confused (as usual) but this time im super confused (thats big time) at a vw shop a guy told me that 94mm piston/cylinders was about 2000cc but in different articles im seeing that there are 2275cc-2300cc t4's with with 94mm. am i reading wrong? do heads and crankshafts and camshafts add cc's? I'm sorry if this is the dumbest post ever. |
Yes, you can wash your stripped case, I highly recommend it.... remove the oil plugs and scrub the passageways with brushes. Rinse well and blow dry.
Heads do not add displacement, bore and stroke make displacement (piston dia. and crankshaft stroke) . 94mm (stock 2L) bore with 71mm stroke (stock 2L)= 1971cc 96mm bore (aftermarket) with 66mm stroke (stock 1.7/1.8L) = 1911cc 96mm by 71mm stroke=2056cc 96mm bore with 78mm stroke (aftermarket)=2270cc these are type 4 engines..... type 1=who cares!! did I say that out loud? Calculation is pi*r*r*h * 4 cylinders
96mm x 84mm calculation: pi= 3.1415 displacement = 3.1415 x 4.8cm * 4.8cm * 8.4cm * 4 = 2432cc Hope this helps. I think a 84mm crank in a type 4 is REALLY pushing it. :eek: Sandeep |
by pushing it, u mean bad for the engine?not reliable?

Actually I know of tuners that use 86 cranks. Oliver's enigne was a 84X94 I believe.

did they have any problems? did oliver have any? sorry im asking so many questions but i might be getting my engine rebuilt and the guy needs a list of parts to buy.
