Maximum engine displacement for 914 2.0 Heads

Hi All,

I'm sorry to hear that LNE are not going to go ahead with their Porkies heads, so I must ask this question:

I'm planning an engine around an 80mm crank and 100mm biral cylinders = 2513cc

I am now looking at using a modified 914 2.0 head. By modified I mean larger valves and some really great porting, no extreme welding and re-engineering. I'm not looking to purchase an exotic head (Remmele) incase I destroy one and need to get another one before the next race.

Is this displacement reasonable for a set of worked 914 heads or is the displacement too large for the capacities of the head ?

I may have to rethink the future of my race beetle as I was hoping for 250HP from the LNe heads. I beleive I'll need atleast this much HP to be competetive.

Your thoughts ?

thanks

Sandeep

take a look at: Klaus Tuning

It's not 250 HP but it might get you the right idea...

no prob

no prob with it.. on my 2,7 (82x103) the engine of my GL convertible..i've got a set of 914 2 litres heads with 40x46 valves sets heads are re- welded as pipes and modified spark plug position much smaller plugs now (motobike model) no prob for it and it work's..
on an other site on the 2366cc (71x103) on my racing 1303 with 914 2 litres modified with 40x48 valves, heavy welding on and on pipes with 51,5 IDA on my racing beetle engine work's like hell, and it's rather okey to have fun with other car on track.. heaven cars with more HP than my beetle..
I can tell you, no prob, go for it.. you heaven can use 914 heads on a 84 or 86 crank without any prob.... remmele as done 2 years ago a 3 liter type 4 with 914 heads.. it still goes well..
