no, not poor (that is a given in this hobby), but...

have any of you guys used POR-20 for headers? i just bought a pint to redo the crappy header job the ceramic coating guy did. i plan on wire brushing it down, sanding, metal prep and then POR-20. my body guy also warned me that the filling job the PO did on the exhaust ports may bust out with the heat of the BAS across there. so i am thinking of coating the back of the apron hoping to keep it cooler. may also buy a small sheet of heat shield to apply back there.

just curious if anyone else had tried POR-20 and your results.

I would like to know too because I've already installed my BAS and I have a great seal at the heads (checked underneith with a flashlight, looking at the ports for black soot, but see dull copper from the oval copper gaskets) and don't/can't want to remove it

I can tell you that the paint on my apron is cracking from the heat from the header. Actually, I think it is the filler that cracked. I want to replace it with an FI apron and cut some cooling holes in it.

There is not alot of room for that header behind the apron. I actually had to cut a bit of the sheilding from the back of the apron so the header would not touch the back of the apron. The FI apron has the room behind it so it should be less of an issue.

yea, forgot to add the part about my header already being on. that is the reason i am going this route. i will do it in the next week or so.

too late for me on the apron swapping. i will have to make this work. thought of using heat wrap, but hear that shortens the life of the header. not a good thing for a $500 system.
