trailing arms

why swap these out for other non stock arms? i can see for weight saving and to add non stock brakes, and possible wheel clearance issuses. but is there any other reason?

The early 944 steel trailing arms are stronger than the VW arms, stronger=less flex=more precise handling. For most use, the VW arms are more than strong enough. Track time is a different story.

My 944-S arm actually weigh eight pounds more than my stock VW trailing arms. Porsche = 48 lbs. and VW = 40 lbs. The width is another thing, I can run 18" x 10" with e.t. 65 offset without wheel spacers. :)
