I modified my sway-away anti-roll bar buy cutting the ends up and re-welding them to fit. Here are a few pics.

I did it my way

Thats my set up man. When I get to it, Porsche 944 sway bar (have to weld) and I also have aluminium trailers. 91 Carrera C2 brakes too all will go on to a 71 pan with my 63 rag body.

my solution

I've bolted a standard 924 Turbo swaybar (16 mm) to my pan with brackets I bought from kerscher. No welding what so ever just a bold on. Handling is awsome on my 1303 "vert".

can post a picture of the kerscher rear sway bar clamps. I have a 944 bar as well but have no way of mounting it. How much did you pay for the kerscher clamps?

a picture of the clamp. Price I don't know anymore but ask Kerscher.

Went to Kerscher website and in German, but do they just sell the 944 roll bar with the bushings or it comes with the front as a set?

Stuart December 7th 2003 09:17

The brackets are not listed on there website but if you send them a e-mail they will tell you that they sell the brackets without the rollbar. I believe the partnumber is: 7380963 REI:p

Is bigger the dia the better it is? Performance products have 24mm for 944! I have 22mm bar in front, so what would be a good size for the rear?:)

Stuart December 7th 2003 14:14

I would say a 16 or 18 mm bar would be good keeping in mind you have a 22mm bar in the front. I don't recommend a thicker one in the rear because this will make a terrible car to handle (over/understeer). :D

Thanks Stuart. Waiting for Kerscher to reply. Maybe getting the rear roll bar from PartsHeaven.:)

Question.

Can I move the 944 sway bar bushings towards the center of the bar and weld up some little brackets to attach the sway bar to the frame horns. I would make a bracket for the backside of the bushings and weld some spacers under the bracket to space it away from the transmission. Then weld the bracket to the frame horns and then use the stock porsche bushing clamps. :)
