Ultimate GL Squareback

I just got done looking 24 pages of threads & pictures of the Ultimate GL Squareback from the UK.

It is using 996 6 Speed Tranny & 911 Engine all housed in a custom one off chassis. The car isnt completed yet, but if you look thru all the pictures, they take you from the chassis beginning stages to mounting the body on the completed chassis. The car still needs to be painted.

Check it out Ultimate GL T3

Damn I wish I had a ton of money to do stuff like that.... Speaking of T3s, anyone else have more pics of GL T3s, notch, fast, or squareback? I didn't see too many in the galleries, and I have a couple squarebacks that I intend to do some cool sh*t with :). Just wanted some ideas for rims, really :) but a lot of other plans in mind....

WOW....... There's a lot of money in that car.
:wowwow:

WOW again.....:D

it sort of reminds me of the route the GL Bus from Florida took.....
race car chassis, Porsche 6 speed, 911 engine, custom suspension... it is very sweet!

NYBugman1972 December 12th 2003 10:02

Are you talking about the blue bus that was in just about every VW and Porsche publication known to man? If so, that had a 4-speed Tip box in it. I have the Excellence article with it, which I think is the best of the articles i've read. It's something else.

Oh yeah, this squareback sound insaine...:D

hi
i think typ3 really lend themselves to the german look in a big way i got asked the other day where somebody could get one from as they thought it was a new vw model i laughed and told them it was first registerd in 66 "but it looks like a new car "

the shape of the early typ3 is one that is now being reproduced like the new mini the mercs and so on but then a lot of new cars have really gone retro crazy at the minute .

im stuggeling with either polished 16x6 design 90s or pedrinis all round in the spring when the winter rubber comes off i have a better camera now and really should take some decent pictures of my car like the front battery install engine install and all that ive had some fun getting where it is right now and it will never be finished i guess .

now if i had the money that brizzy has got i would have to have a crack at exactly what he is doing to that sqr .

my guess is that it will debut at the volksworld show sandown 04 funnily enough i was in the uk for the last few years for this show and was gonna give it a rest this year but if this car is gonna be there well i might just make the effort!

Racelook December 12th 2003 19:48

What a car mannnnnnnn.. Spaceframe:silly:

typ4boy December 22nd 2003 09:48

ha that cars going to show a few people out there. being built by brian burrows, t3d . L.A.P supplyed the rims, rear944 a arms and brakes, 993 oil tank, and a lot of c/f parts that i can not tell you about, wait till it debuts @ vworld show in march. typ3 big in 2004 watch out for L.A.P notch 8 year project coming to end.

yetibone December 28th 2003 22:03

Thats a lot of steel. Looks kinda heavy.

Still tricked out far and beyond what I could do, and looks VERY nice!

P.S.
Neil, Great looking Square! That's how a TypeIII SHOULD look!
