electrical problem with 911 fan? power surging up and down.
 

as soon as i hit 2000rpm everthing surges from like 10.5-13.7 volts causing my entire electrical system to "fade in--> fade out". the lights dim/brighten, fuel pump surges loud/quite, etc...

have a 911 fan. maybe i hooked it up wrong? how should the voltage reg be done. car had a generator before. but, this has happened this year. last summer it was fine.

Sounds to me like the regulator is gone.

I had the problem once with my T1 in 91.

You had it working before, right?
Check that everything is properly grounded. see if you can get your hands on a working reg and swap it in. If the problem is still there, then keep looking elsewhere, brushes, rectifier, etc.

I once found that a brush wasn't contacing properly on the armature, make sure the brush springs are all ok.
