Ok I spent some time and fab.ed a brake/clutch pedal cover from aluminum(flat and expanded). I don't know if I want to cut and bend the other 2 then have the expanded sheet TIG welded to the flat sheet or but this set for $15.00 + shipping.

here is the set i could buy (copy and paste link)

Or finish the set I started (see attachment)

Buying a set would be a lot easier...and you have the added benifit of seeing them in half a dozen other cars when you go to the shows. :p
Stick with your creation, shows you got imagination and skills.

Definatley finish yours, they look great, plus they look more functional than stock type. They look like they would be more of a non-skid type. I wouldnt mind having a set myself, but I havce neither the tools or the talent.

Ya I'm running the ones from the real source and they are ok, there are some really nice one's for 911/914's that can be made to work in a bug. They cost an arm and a leg though.

Dave, I think you should finish yours. But if you do decide to call it quits, I have a set of those $15 dollars covers that I will let go for $10 :D

NO_H2O January 2nd 2004 11:30

RLW6000, I cut them out of the scrap I had left from the 914 dash panel (0.10 T-6 hard to bend for the brake and clutch), I don't think I have enough for another set but I will check. I will have to get a friend to TIG weld the expanded covers on. I had that left over from a speaker cabinet I made for a bass player, I do have more of that. I wonder what they would look like if I could get the flat stock black (soak over night in aniline dye) and keep the expanded stock silver. That would be hard to do and still Tig weld them, but maybe some counter-sink screws and skin washers. (Hummmmm).
Joe, I will keep you $10 set in mind in case I mess these up.

hi
ive got the cheap set as well!!! but those are so much nicer and much better than the standard chopped up cheque plate ones ive seen people make id be willing to pay you for a set of those :D

please tell me more about this dyeing aluminium business? between trying to decide weather to run perinis or design 90,s i was also considering black rather than polished!!!

yetibone January 2nd 2004 19:53

Go with your pedals, Be creative.:D

zen January 2nd 2004 20:42

you know my vote. i got to see them in person today. they are even nicer than in the pics. keep them all silver too.

NO_H2O January 2nd 2004 21:16

Well maybe I should get some more 0.10 aluminum (T-1 this time) and make a few sets, putting the curve in the T-6 is a pain. As for dying the aluminum I have yet to try it. I don't know how it would hold up. If I were going to do a set of wheels in black, I would have them powder-coated.
