big oil cooler in the way of cup brace
3 Attachment(s)
no_h2o and i did the 96 plate oil cooler mount (see tech articles) and got the thing to fit quite nicely. with a little foresite, i would have realized that the cup brace that was on back order at the time would normally have the crossbar going right about through my fan (see attached).
this is just a head's up to you guys. we will be looking at adjusting the cooler mounting and getting the crossbar as low as possible in mounting. i have posted some pics of where the crossbar should come through. on the passenger side shot you have to look hard, but you can see the oil cooler through there. |
I had the same problem but in the revese order.
Brace was all mounted, wanted to fit my cooler.... EEK, No space! But there's JUST enough room to the left/right of the gearbox for a sensible mounting. When its all apart next I will take some photos. Cya, Sam C |
With my fabbed bar, I used heim joints, and was able to use spacers to move the bar down away from my 96 plate. I just installed my new engind and took it for it's maiden drive on sunday. The brace and a rear sway bar makes the car nice and stiff and balanced. The car gets sideways in a very smooth way, and corners with a great deal more precision.

can you post a pic? i don't see the pics that you posted a few weeks ago anywhere. mostly want to see the heim and whole upper shock mount brackets.
thanks!!! |

thanks. how much clearance do you have between the cooler and the ba? i have about a 1" stand off from the package tray for cooler so it can breath and then the fan which is about 2" (off the top of my head) thick.
