Spark plug not wanting to stay put problem

I wander if someone can help me. I am experiencing a repeated problem with spark plugs removing themselves from the head. They take the threads with them. Now I thought it was the timing so I checked it and it was a lil off, I set it back to spec. Maybe I'm having a vacuum leak and it's causing that cylinder to run too hot. The plug does look a little lean. This is so frusterating. Thanks in advance for the help.

You can spray some NON-flamable silicone/penatrating oil spray onto your manifolds and intake gaskets with the engine running, if it dies down you found your air leak. If all of your sparkplugs are coming out you probably have a jeting problem. :(

My plugs would keep loosening and popping out, and when I took the heads off upon teardown, I saw three or four ceacks around the plug boss on each head. This may be your problem. If the plugs stick to the aluminum, use anti seize. Sounds like your heads are fncked up already. :banghead:

Thanks for the reply's. I swapped the head and discovered the shim/gasket between the head and cylinder head was missing a section. It had a bit of a lawn mower sound so that was probally it. It also probally sucked outside air durning the intake stroke causing it to run lean, the plug probally got to hot and the the threads failed on the head.
I managed to lose one of the bolts for the throttle body and the hardware were closed when I made the discovery so I'll update this thread tomorrow when I get it running. Once again thanks.

there was a gasket inside the head and cylinder??? that is metal to metal unless it is copper?? they make copper gaskets to go there but stock it is metal to metal

The metal gasket is a type IV thing. I'm learning as I go.

Spark plug blown out of place

I am considering getting a beetle which has the following problem -
one of the spark plugs was blown out of its hole, taking the
threads with it. Is this an indication of serious problems?
Can I just jb weld it back into place and use it as a beater car?
Thanks
Jeremy
