17x8?
 

anybody able to tell me if 17x8 will fit a 73 super. same offset as a mark III golf. 45mm i'm pretty sure

any help would be appreciated thanks

The clearance from stut housing to the inside of the wheel will be THE SAME
The outside edge of the wheel will EXTEND an extra 26mm

this is what i got from the offset calculator. hope it's accurate

I have 17x7, ET 40mm on my '72 Super with the Maxx Struts from Topline. They tuck neatly, some might say perfectly, inside my front fenders. I always use this wheel size and offset as sort of a reference point when considering other wheels. As far as I know, 8 inch wide wheels will NOT fit up front with stock suspension and fenders without sticking out/rubbing, I may be wrong. It is well worth it to make sure you know the EXACT measurements of the old and new wheels before making any "purchases." Look at Phat73VW's wheels, he has a '73 Super and helped me out big time when fitting my wheels. Good luck! :)

i went to see the rims i was gonna buy. and decided not to. the pic the guy posted wasn't the same as the whells for sale and 2 of the tires had nails in em . :laugh: so no deal
if the wouldn't fit the bug i was gonna use em on my golf, but decided the rims where fuggly

the top rims are the ones he said he had
and the bottom one is what he had
