Anyone ever consider an automatic??
 

I amd building my 70 for autocrossing, and was wondering if there is anyway to install an auto tranny to go with my wbx engine. Someone suggested to me that the bus had a 3-speed auto, and I found a place that can rebuild, and beef up for me, but I have no idea if it will even fit. Does anyone here have any info, or experience with both the bug and the bus, that can maybe edjumacate me on this matter?

Not sure why you would want to use an automatic for autoX.
In my experience automatics shift slower than a manual, the last thing you want is to wait for it to downshift when you mash the throttle when coming out of a sharp turn...

If you can't drive a manual transmission than it might be an option. But as far as racing goes there are more parts in an automatic to break and they are probably more expensive.
