What's the easiest, and cheapest way to get Porsche discs on a bug?
 

I've read the tech articles and come to a conclusion 1986 944 Turbo discs are the best way to get the desired effect. Unfortunatley it soon became aparent that the calipers in question are like hens teeth shall we say.

What is the next best way to get Brembos on a bug, without breaking the bank?

I'll be using 18" x 7.5" rims.

944T are actually quite easy to find.
eBay is one source or there are several big breakers out in California that have these things lying around. There's also a couple of Porsche dismantlers in Georgia if I remember correctly.

I would say - no matter what - you're looking at a 1000$ plus investment (with rotors, pads, fabrication, shipping etc.)

the main in georgia is German Auto Dismantlers. tons of availability of parts. they tend to be higher priced though. talk to Dave and tell him i sent you. that is good for a 1 or 2% discount. :D

951 brakes are not necessarily the BEST answer. just one. and that is coming from a guy with them. depending on your need, they are usually way overkill. if you are on a budget and are talking about a street car (not autocross or track), ghia discs are fine. they may not be big or say Porsche, but they will put your head into the windshield if needed. 944NAs are the more reasonable step if you are autoX and concerned about fade or just need the look. those can be done relatively cheap.

but as Daniel said, if you are patient and persistent enough, the right deals will come along.
