Vw & Raccoon Geico commercial

I nailed the grandpaw raccoon at like 65 and my lowered, bumperless front apron got smashed.
-Could I straiten it
cut the grill out...(leaving an open rectangle)
and weld some small diamond expanded metal/ iron mesh
or would I be better off shaving it or welding a new clip in?

Have you got any pictures of the damage?
I think it would be better to repair or replace but with out seeing the damage it's difficult to say.

Coon debris.

justdubbin January 23rd 2005 21:16

That should repair, will you be doing it or are you getting a bodyshop to do the work?
If your getting a bodyshop to do it there should be no problem repairing it ;)

Bodyshop fa show, but I was just thinkin while I've got them beatin and hackin around, maybe I could do something a little different. In a year or two: the handles, chrome, and hinges will get shaved, so all together, I think it would look nice and clean with the smooth front apron. But maybe just a stock repair would suit it better.

I think the biggest reason to keep the front vent might be the same reason alot of people don't like the 03, without the front bumper it does look very bulbous and the vent tends to take this away from the eye, a bit of an optical illusion maybe.

I'm not to sure if that makes sense now :o it did when I started to write it honest

Brad January 24th 2005 21:39

Hell yea, that's why I posted. I wanted honest opinion(s)

Ever thought of this?

This is what I'm doing to MY car.
The car's black atm, but it's getting painted dark charcoal metallic grey.
I posted theses a while back. Take a lookand tell me what you think.
I'm getting the grille off another wreck and grinding the edges smooth.
Haven't decided on powdercoating or chrome yet...Probably PC.

I stuck wit the lower left as the final on the second link.
I scrapped the other 3 ideas...too weird even for me.
Anyway...I like the look and it's pretty easy to do.
Might look odd on a light colored car, but ya never know! =)

The bottom left's pretty pimp Uber Affe, never seen that done before. Gotta Frankenstein/ robotic look to it... Muuuah-ha.ha.ha.ha. IT"S ALIVE!

I think I'm gonna go with the smooth apron. Justdubbin' I feel what you're saying for sure... I do catch some **** with the ugly duckling front end... but I'm thinkin when its completly shaved it'll be just clean AND...if it turns out to look like a horses *** sewed up with a grapevine...I may just stick the ole' Euro tag on it.

probably going as close to this color as possible:

http://content2.eu.porsche.com/prod/...ighlightsintro

w/ this in C/F and C/F headlight rings...

I zipped the attatchment...just an altered photshop pic, but I really like the way the c/f looks for this application...don't think anyone's ever done it to a porsche let alone a Super beetle! =)
