glass-action

Does anyone have any experience with these guys? I have seen their ads but I don't recall anyone with an opinion on them.

I have heard Creative Car Craft makes quality f/g components. Unfortunately, their front fenders are differently widened than their rear fenders.

These guys offer two-inch-wider fenders for both the front and rear.

I've got the 2" wide front fenders, pre '67 style. They fit really well and the holes for the bolts lined up well. My painter said he had to do minimal prepping to get them ready for paint.

The rear 2" wide were from BugPack ... crappy quality, crappy fit, expensive to prep properly ... should have gone with Glass action for the rears as well ... oh well .. live and learn.

That's good to read ... well, not for you about your experience with BugPack  sorry ... but for me. :D

After a difficult weekend, it was nice to see some good news. I may have palatable options yet. (I realize difficult weekends are probably old hat to the veterans of customizing out there, but it was/is uncharted territory for me. :o  )

Another footnote: These guys used to be "Innovations in Fiberglass."

I have heard that they had poor quality parts, and couldn't honor warranty promises, which is why they have changed their name???

This is just what i have been told, If some have had good experience with them I see no harm. They are always at the shows here in the southwest, and they seem to be well represented.

Whatever you can get from CCC, just get it, they are the best parts you can get. They quality of the surface is suberb, and under the fenders they are even amazing.

No doubt CCC enjoys a good rep. Their front fenders are stock (I've got stock) or an enormous 2.5" wider. To make matters worse, their selection of rear fenders don't match. It's either 1.25" or 3.5" wider.

I'm trying to find a solution where I can tuck the wheels I want under stock fenders. (There may be a solution.) Plan B would be wider fenders. CCC's only option is too much unless I went spacer crazy.

Perhaps, G-A did more than just a name change. I didn't see anything negative until I mentioned they used to be IiF. On the other hand, I don't want to shell out $500 in wings plus paint, etc. if the quality isn't there.

Too bad CCC doesn't have G-A's selection. I'm certainly open to more opinions ... and more options would be even nicer.

Sandeep March 22nd 2005 12:51

The reason I went with the 2" wider fenders is that they "just" clear the wheels I'm running ... 1.5" was not enough and 3.5" looks silly. With a stock front bumper on the rear, the rear end does not look wide at all.

People ask me how I fit the 11" wide (actual width, bead to bead) rear wheels under stock fenders .... They are amazed when I tell them its acutally a 2" wider fender ... looks like I accomplished what I set out to do. :D

You can get great quality fenders and pay little for prepping or you can get crappy fenders and pay more for prepping ... for me, I had a limit on what I wanted to spend for fenders and paint. I could have saved a few bucks in labor by buying better fenders but, in the end, the cost will end up being the same.

I have ordered fenders from CCC, Kerscher and CSP.
1st place : CCC, followed closely by Kerscher and not too far away, CSP. :)

effvee March 31st 2005 15:00

That's is correct

I have both fenders from CCC and Glass action and by far CCC is better. Glass action holes or dimples are not where they supposed to be, thus a wrongly drilled hole. The light bucket not seal properly, and just all around lesser quailty. :(

oasis March 31st 2005 15:13

Well, CCC is disqualified on this GL project due to wrong and incongruent size offerings. :bawling:

Glass-Action has received about a 50-50 response here and elsewhere. That makes it the second choice of my two Plan Bs. :(

Thanks to all who responded. :)

With all that has happened -- holiday, being out of town, being dependent on the schedule of others, poor weather, etc. -- I haven't driven my car in two weeks. Since it's not home with me, I can't even glance at it while on the crapper.

Hey!

I bought my dash, floors and a set of bumpers from them about 4-5 years ago, no problems.

I just talked to them yesterday, i bought a set of speaker panels and a console. Nice peoples

This is one thread I started here and at three other forums. I typically pick what I think will be the best forum for whatever I intend to ask. Since I thought I was in a rush mode, I wanted as many answers and as soon as possible.

I didn't realize I was going to be in a hurry up and wait mode.

Anyway, the current tally for G-A including CLKWRK is 10-8 in favor of "for" G-A. Interestingly, one of the ten "for" and five of the eight "against" are hearsay -- making the tally 9-3 in favor of "for" from those who have had first-hand experience with them. This includes reports under their previous name and current name.

Don't get me wrong. I am not totally discounting the hearsay reports, and I am not discounting the "3" compared to the "9." (I seldom bid on anything at eBay if a seller has a 75% rating for example.)

I guess what I am saying is this co-Plan B is now demoted to Plan C. Demoted but not out of consideration. As I said, I'm anxious to get to the bottom of what exactly my choices are and what's involved in pulling them off.

CLKWRK April 1st 2005 12:43

LOL,

sounds like you have a pretty complicated decicion making process going on there.

best of luck, Bry

oasis April 1st 2005 14:14

:D , probably not. I tend to make things complicated. :) Sometimes the hardest thing for me to do is nothing.
