so are the "phone dials" german look.................... or are they too old to really matter???

Keith Seume mentions "phone dials" specifically in the German Look chapter of his Custom Volkswagen book. They may not be the latest, but their existence is still post-German production of Beetles.

Just found a 56 oval window sitting on a B/J pan.
Has Ghia disc brakes up front and Phone-Dials on all 4 corners, and a 1776 for go power....
