early 944 installed :) rear wheels problem :(
Hi.
Here is my problem: Right rear whell sticks out 2cm more than rear left. I measured the distance from bodywork not from fender. Can this be fixed by adjusting? Due to this difference I don't know how "fat" fenders I have to buy. Thanks for help. BTW I`ve just finished installing porsche 944 brake setup on my 1303 everything works great!!! I`ve managed to complete this conversion thanks to posts of members of GL forums :) Specs of my car: 1974 VW1303 . porsche 1983 brake setup . kerscher M/C . CUP2 alloys 7x17 (205/50) front and 9x17 (225/45) rear . ATE PowerDISC front . regular ATE discs rear. Remsa brakepads (nice quality, budget price) (all used parts sandblasted and powderpaint cotated) what elese can I write... maby this: I'm proud of every part I installed and every screw I tightend :) |
sounds like a great setup. would love to see some pics.
VWs are infamous for offset tracks. if you took a poll on here, i bet the great majority would have your problem as well, me included. 2cm does seem a little larger than normal, but not too surprised. when aligned you might get a little of that back. only real way of that i know to deal with it beyond give and take on toe settings is with a wheel spacer on one side. my ghia is that way. |
Nice project :)
Did you check/change the bushings and rear trailing arms? These are the things to check along with the spring plate alignment. |
